Won't the car hit the speed limiter in 4th?
Anyway shouldn't matter, it's all calculated numbers anyway. The only true measure of power is directly off the crankshaft. The gearbox is simply a tourque multiplier to allow the car to move at different speeds. |

The engine hit the limiter in 4th with both manifolds. It just took 30 seconds to get there. |

I think we got enough accuracy with 3rd gear pulls to be able to compare the stock part to the part we made. That's all I was after. If I just wanted the highest number possible, I would have booked a more forgiving dyno machine.
On my car, we've done 4th gear pulls -- no speed limiter, rev limiter programmable, and 3rd gear goes by pretty quickly. I did have an assumption then that 4th gear would be better for all cars, but I think I was incorrect about that being a hard rule.

^ looks like that is the case. As previously stated a part like this could really be a crapshoot and in this case it was a positive result even on a car with limited mods so that is a big plus.

Of course there will be gains over the plastic one. Well lets find out with the boosted motors. I better start saving! |

Thats wild. As piston speed increases the likelyhood of autoignition decreases... maybe the ecm is throwing a lot of advance at that part of the curve too.

Yeah the timing backs way off as RPM climbs. An old acquaintance put a programmable ecu on his echo and said he added 20° of timing to the top end and gained a whack of top end power with nothing more than the regular boltons.

Sometimes I miss my carburetors... I wonder if there is a way to adjust the position of the crankshaft position sensor and just have the damn thing advanced 2 degrees from the get go

Theres absolutely no way to move the sensor but you could have a new pickup wheel made up or try and rotate it somehow.
