yeah i also wonder about that, maybe it the different way the scan gauge and the ecometer get the mpg readings. The ecometer makes it seem like fuel is still used in "DFCO", makes us wonder doesnt it?

about the brightness adjustment on the gauge, i think it needs a brighter display. It really just jumps form least brightness to full on, rather fast doesnt it?

Regardless. It will pay for itself in a short period of time. And its worth it just for the gauge that it is. (I wanted a tach) To sum it up, I would hate not having it, not that I have had it.

I've been using it off and on for the past few tanks. Without it I get around 38-39MPG, with it I get 41MPG. I'm liking it.

im running on stock 15 steelies, i see that going 35 on 5th gear, gives like about 45-50 inst. mpg, i forget the numbers exactly, but wow huh? only thing is best i can manage from accelerating from stop is about mid 20s on the inst. heavy wheels the factor?

Stock steelies are 14" fwiw. I can barely keep mine above 15MPG accelerating from a stop.

my stock steelies are from the power package. so 15s.

for the first time i used nuetral instead of DFCO, it gives like about double the readout... hmm, it would either throw off the final avg at fill up or make for some interesting find.

I've noticed that as well with neutral. However, when I have used neutral in the past, I got worse gas mileage. I duno, it's odd. Everyone with a scangauge also said that when you shift into neutral your RPM's go higher -- this gauge says they go lower. ?

rpms are higher in DFCO, but fuel is "cutoff" like we get DFCO above 1100rpm, but when in neutral engine is just at idling speeds.

This is rather confusing no, DFCO or neutral?

From what I've read on the forums from Scangauge people is that when you coast in neutral (not DFCO) your RPM's are higher than if you were in gear and coasting. That's what I'm talking about. But my Ecometer tells me the opposite.

If you disengage the clutch, the engine speed drops to idle, doesn't it? If you leave the clutch engaged, the engine has to match the gear which is linked to the speed of the vehicle.

I own a SG. to do DFCO you have to be 1200+ rpms. if you coast in neutral your rpm's will drop... maybe as low as 700... but from what I can tell, the slower you coast in neutral the lower the rpms, and the longer you coast in neutral the lower the rpms.

SG reports no gas being used when in DFCO. From what I can tell, using DFCO in short little burst, or long stretches (when going down hills) can do a lot to keep your mpg avg up high. coasting in DFCO for a few blocks can jump my average from mid 40's to high 40's on my 11 mile commute to/from work. I used to use coasting a lot... but I no longer think it is as good.

If coasting is better.... its only at certain times.... like when going fast (highway speeds) on slight downhill stretches where DFCO would slow your car down too much.

Using DFCO I've now got my commute to work and back to avg about 49-50mpg over the past two weeks. This tank i'm looking at 46mpg... 2 bars left and i've gone 400miles so far.I should be able to get 430miles before I hit the 1.6gal left mark.

The amusement of the device alone has been worth it to me, and as stated earlier in the thread..... I wanted a tach, so that was just an added big bonus.

Just thought I'd report again-I finally filled up again today (It happens so rarely I actually look forward to it!) and the ecometer avg mpg was within .71 mpg (41.3 pump vs 42 ecometer).

Again, which is more accurate? I'll take it!
