Yaris EPA Estimates are 29/35
Fit EPA Estimates are 28/35 1MPG off in the city... WOW! Not much difference there. We all know these numbers are not real world, but it does mean they are close in MPGs.

i did read that while the new fit has more horsepower, the engine is more efficient now and gets better fuel economy than the previous generation despite having more power.
i'm not sure what technical changes were made to achieve this. |

I believe they implemented dual-VTEC (sort of like how the Corolla has dual VVTI on both intake and exhaust sides).

I like the Fit. I like the Yaris. I also looked at the Hyundai Accent. I didn't fit in the Accent, so it's out. Next in terms of pricing is the Yaris. When I checked last week they actually had some in stock vs the Honda dealer that had the $20,000 model (ha!) on the showroom floor and *one* other. The more I look at the Yaris styling the more I like it. Can't wait to get my own.

Owning both the 2007 Yaris, and now the 2009 Phit Sport w/Navigation, and I can tell you honestly that although I do love the Yaris, the Phit is a vastly superior car in virtually every way.

But the interior is boring and brtual IMO. i would not wanan hafta face that interior for 5+ years. (but at that helluva good cash price of $10,000, whats to complain abt i guess? esp with that 5 year warranty too.)

"vastly superior car in virtually every way".. did i hear this right.. as far as i know is that no car is vastly superior to other cars, each car has something better compare to other cars.. unless its on the expensive end..
