Steps:
1. Take out filter box (pop top, use 10mm socket wrench to take out 2 bolts holding down air box)
2. Remove filter
3. Take top of filter box off (open all the way the slide top off air box)
4. Use Duct Tape and tape the air filter to the top of the air box (around edges)
5. Re-attach top of fiter box to the intake hose
6. VROOOM VROOOM

I never said that. I said taping the filter to the top of the airbox in my first post. its the bottom that has to go, the maf adapter is in the top..

Ah, my mistake.. this is the super ghetto route.

Thought you were at least saying to do a "Blitz" type setup, where the stock black hose is kept, but a MAF adapter clamps on, then a filter. Very basic setup they sell.

Anyway..

well, I did it. I just took out the bottom half of the airbox and duct taped the filter to the top! when you give it gas you can definatley hear it now, although I was expecting to hear it more. not much more power, im still using the stock filter. I would think that the chinotake would sound better and give more power since it will be a smooth tube and a new filter.

If you want to hear the engine though, you cant do an intake mod for cheaper!!!

GHETTOFABULOUS INSTALL PROCEDURE

1. open airbox by unclipping
2. unscrew bolts on bottom of aribox
3. using a rasor, cut the ziptie holding on the maf wire to the bottom airbox peice
4. bend up the top of the airbox and just tape around the edge of the filter to hold it on the bottom.

you shouldnt have to take the whole top off...

I would not recommend this... but it is free (minus duct tape) and well alpha's running it so it must work

I don't have any money right now thanks to my LeBaron fireball and the $500 towing bill, so waiting is fine by me. Some things were rushed/not properly researched/tuned on the LeBaron and I think that is part of the reason the fire. I know when the SRI comes out, it will have been well researched and well made. When I first got my Yaris there were NO performance parts available except the TRD sportviso kit. Keep up the great work ChinoCharles, take the time you need to release the best upgrade yet for the yaris that won't require a loan application
