My Corolla it's in Great conditions, all stock.

I forced the Stealership up from $2,500 to $4,800

Tomorrow it's Corollas last ride...

That 3D looks very cool, can't wait to see the final product.

I was in the correct ballpark then with the trade in price.

Did I show you the 1/4 wave towers we made from my old L4s? They're being featured in the Hybrid Audio suite at CES.

^I know it's "geeky", the only L4s in existence hand signed by Scott Buwalda

^going into 1/4 wave BIBs bound for CES

^the BIB desgin has an open top. To make these more appealing visually, we fabbed a "top" out of MDF, vinyl, and grill cloth.

^The BIBs are powered by a 3 Watt class A 2 channel amplifier.

^which in turn is fed by this tube pre-amp. It has one input and two outputs if one wanted to have a sub amp.

Remember what these towers are...they're enclosures for 4 1/2" speakers that play amazingly well from 70 Hz all the way up to 17 kHz with NO crossover whatsoever!

You'd be suprized at the output coming from these enclosures. Yes, they need a sub woofer....BUT considering the size of the speaker? Hello! This is an amazing cabinet/speaker combination. I can personally say that these are VERY natural sounding and carry the midbass very well. The bass guitar is nicely pronounced and not lacking. The mid and upper range is suprisingly good. Not shrill or dumbed down. And yes, you can play your iPod off this combination without a DAC. Straightforward solution for modern technology and classic design.

I'd love to have that amp/pre setup! But I'm power hungry, I'd like to goes as high as 20 watt. Out of a tube set up thats a lot! I witnessed a demo with a 20 watt tube set up and he could rattle the window with it, but he was also pushing full size Klipschhorns too, About the most efficient speakers made period. 1812 Overture never sounded so good!

I have a car amp that I used in my previous Honda audio project.. use it at home now.. hybrid technology (tube preamp + regular amp) - dual mono with 120 w RMS per channel.. one of only 12 EOS Verdis produced.. best sounding car amp that I ever heard

Derick...

Spurring you on with some blurry skunk-works pictures:

^Envision the two big amps in the enclosure. The enclosure's edges are rounded out with short hair or bondo to curve the enclosure's sharp edges. The enclosure is painted a flat white (to contrast with the black of the amps). The cover has these cutout shapes as you see here so you can see down into the enclosure as well as a roundover on the cuts to make the shapes more gentle to the eyes. Now, line the upper sides of the enclosure with white LEDs...that will make the flat white paint glow. That IMHO is a sweet little amp enclosure. The top cover to the enclosure will be carpeted (could be vinyl or painted but it wouldn't match the OEM look) to match the OEM trunk look.

^This is the placement of the amplifiers if you'll recall. Note that the right side of the trunk will be flat like the left soon.

^Mounting points and wiring paths.

^More mounting points for the thread serts.

^I'll be placing the third amplifier on the top of the enclosure cover and working some of the neat shapes around it. With that third amp on top, I'll have a glow coming from under it, you'll look in and WHOA! Big amps! Just wait and see what's coming next! I'm going to be finishing the trunk up and then starting on the interrim sub enclosure until Scott gives me the Legatia woofer coming out later this year to test under the glove box area.

When you say "lows", you're talking midbass?

Done! the wire of the left speaker inside door, was too short and when door was closed the cable was in lots of tension, so it gave up.

Lesson learned here, leave enough wire to play with.

I did have the chance to put a lot more foam between the door and the plastic panel, like sqcomp mentions before the cluster that controls the windows and lock keys is the one that reverberates more due to it's lack of mechanical points to hold it in place (only one small screw driver).

Great I have LOWs again running from 40Hz to 160Hz I believe.!!!

Not finished by any means...now it's rounding off the internal edges, filling in with a body filler radius inside the perimiter, primer, then paint.
