3rd Gen Vitz RS (and G's) Tail Lights: Part Numbers, Ordering, and Installation
Unlike the 2nd Gen Yarii, our 3rd Gen's are very limited in the tail lights available to us - there's the USDM L/LE tails, USDM SE tails, the Euro Hybrid tails, the JDM Vitz RS, and Vitz RS G's tails. As such, I've been very interested in getting a set of RS or G's tails out of Japan for a reasonable (read: not $900 dollars or $1000 shipped from a guy on eBay) price since I first saw them during the 2012 reveal.
Here on YarisWorld we've had the part numbers and speculation that the RS/G's lights would fit but no one has been able to verify the accuracy due to the cost involved. Thanks to a great contact from another car group/community I have been able to order/import a set of G's tails and want to make a clear guide for other 3G Yaris owners to use. So, there's two ways to go about acquiring the lights - purchase the complete light assembly from Toyota (those part numbers are below in orange) or buying the necessary parts separately and then assembling the light yourself; the problem with the first method is that if you're special ordering these parts, as I was, you need to be 100% certain that you're buying the right stuff - there's no returning the "wrong" part to Toyota Japan (or Toyota USA come to think about it...) - whereas me buying each piece individually meant less chance of incorrect ordered parts = less money wasted. JDM Passenger / USDM Driver's Tail Light
All numbers in the above list correspond to the same number on the exploded view of the tail light (image has been edited from Toyodiy.com - a great reference for Toyota part numbers!). Italicized numbers are the list price for each part - gathered through Toyodiy or Internet vendors - and colored numbers are what I actually paid; red numbers are Toyota Japan price (through my contact/broker), blue numbers are Conicelli Toyota (http://www.toyotapartznet.com) prices - you maybe able to get these cheaper at your local dealership - I was not, and green is what I paid at O'Reilly's. All prices are before shipping which will vary depending on your location. The Assembly Line: Putting it All Together Now that you've got all of the parts ordered and in front of you like so... ...it's time to make your light!
Alright, so now comes the part where we install these bad boys... well, when I post the second part this evening after I take pictures of the remaining steps. If there are any questions please post them!

good man on going for the conversion...im afraid you missed the elady boat though, she was selling G's bumpers for about 550 shipped...also take a look at some 2015USDM headlights which are more in line with the G's Front headlights.

Yeah, the wife was asking about updated headlights as we were putting the tails in yesterday. I guess I'll take a gander at the '15 ones along with some Euro/JDM options.

I am going to sit over here in the corner, and glare at you until you can feel it. I want those tail lights. I'm working on starting an importing business and my first treat to myself will be the full G's kit for my yaris haha.

Keep in mind the cutoff. Will not be correct if sourcing from a RHD market.

I do the same as Keiri.
I asked advises members on Minkara for the good parts. Changing tail lights is very simple |

typically with RHD cars if you angle the passenger side almost all the way to the right and sometimes down a little bit, it evens it out nicely. I know the actual cutoff line is reversed, but it still turns out pretty good. at least that's the case with all the RHD I've messed with lol. I didn't adjust the headlights on my Z at all. The left side cutoff in the projector is a little high, but it's not bad :) I think 90% of "lights are too bright" to on coming drivers it is operator alignment error haha

All, I haven't forgotten on the second part of this it's just been a busy week and I haven't gotten any pictures taken although it's exactly like what marspike posted. Marspike, I love that illuminated Toyota logo - looks awesome in the night shots!

Hi Keiri, You can find easily some LED backlit Toyota emblem on Aliexpress for a low price.
You can add an 60cm blue led strip on your rear door that you plug on rear wiper that works on ACC current. Holes are already done in the door bottom. I think it looks cool on your lagoon blue. For exemple: |

Thanks Keiri for the info provided...
Here are the G-version complete assemblies part numbers: (G-version has the black housing inside of the clear outer shell) 81550-52B31 right-hand side 81560-52A61 left-hand side They are direct swap: unplug old & plug-in new to 3rd generation. (that is 2012 to 2014... caution as 2015 re-designed rear end seems to be different) Not awfully cheap, but to be considered if you intend to keep the car for a long time and can't stand our North American OEM tails every time you walk to your car... I was very pleased with the service offered by http://www.jp-carparts.com Communication with seller + parts received within 4 working days... |

@3rdSEman, I have just placed an order as per the part number you have described in your post. I drive Vitz 2013 model (3rd generation) 1.0 L petrol. I hope that these should fit perfectly on my car. Just a little concerned.

Hi Imran, all will be fine: it is a direct swap.
Only the tail/brake part is LED. Reverse (clear bulb) is incandescent (round center section) Flasher (amber bulb) is incandescent (lower section) So there are no issues... Once you remove the nuts "A" & "B" from inside the cabin... The whole assembly can be pulled outwards approx 20 mm "A", "B", "C" & "D" Only after it's pulled somewhat, can you lift the housing at hook "E" See Marspike pictures, in order to be able to lift hook "E"... you have to remove the two bumper screws at the hatch, unclip the bumper from the rear metal fenders and let the bumper sag somewhat as shown. On these same pictures, you can see: * The two "thru-the-metal" holes for "A" & "B" * The white plastic grommet within the body which accepts stud "C" * You can barely guess the push-pin which slides into hook "E" (it is removed on my own picture but this is afterwards... when you remove the assembly it cannot be pulled like "A", "B", "C" & "D" as it is too stiff and you would break the hook... you really have to lift the housing somewhat from the still-in-place plastic push-pin) |

@3rdSEMan thanks a lot for your reply and detailed explanation.
Could you also help me with the rear bumper replacement with the Vitz Rs or Gs. I mean the spare part numbers which I may order to replace the current rear bumper. |

Anybody know if the socket/wire assembly part number is the same for the Euro Hybrid tail lights perchance? I just nabbed a set off eBay and one came without a wire assembly :\
