Air Conditioner Noise
Hello everyone,
Turned on my air to the highest level today and it was making a loud noise that could be heard over the radio, I can't begin to describe this noise, but when I turned it down to 3 there was no noise. My car is an 07 HB with less that 5,000 miles. Everyone in my family is automobile challenged so there isn't anyone I can begin to ask, so I came to the experts. Has anyone experienced this or know what might be causing this? Is your air loud? I can't get to the dealer that I bought the car from until Friday, will any Toyota dealer honor the warranty? Thanks in advance, Cathy |

You might want to check the AC filter access door behind the glove box. It might not closed properly. This is just a guess. If all else fails drive up to VA as I am off work do to injury for a couple of weeks. Last edited by blacksan; 05-06-2007 at 04:50 PM. |

as long as its not a loud CLICKING TICKTICKTICKTICK, thats a sign of the compressor clutch about to go, but im sure these toyota ones are designed much better than that

Is everyone using the outside air circulation vs inside air circulation when this occurs? I remember something about that in the manual. But, I might just be stir crazy from sitting around the house and just imagining the whole thing?

I use outside all times. Only use the inside when im driving in a smelly place or its really hottttttt outside, humid and need max A/C.
But my noise happen either way as long as A/C button is on. -- Blen

WOW! Did you get the cows engine option instead of the usual hamsters? Must be hard to keep 'em fed.
Many moons ago, I worked as secretary for a small automotive/body shop and I learned a valuable lesson from the mechanics there... Does it work? if yes, is it leaking anything? if no, don't worry so much about the noise it makes! Most noises are harmless. |

Well, I can understand that, but this car has less than 5,000 miles on it, and I live in the desert of southern California, so the air needs to work. I dealt with the air not working in my Tercel for the last 2 years of ownership, so this is a biggie for me. And unfortunately this noise is loud, couldn't probably carry on a conversation with the air on. Thanks for your advise. Cathy |

I'll see your SoCal & raise you a GA in the dead of summer... wet hot trumps dry hot every time! Had a noisy AC in the last car I had, cooled like a bitch... just had to turn up the stereo! Under warranty, def get it fixed, but don't obsess about it.
