rear axle beam compatitbility?

I have a 2012 L model hatch, recently hit curb pretty hard and bent the rear axle beam slightly(got the wheel & hub too).... anyway, looking around I see car-part lists one beam assembly for 2nd gen and one for 3rd gen as different parts. not planing on a SE disc brake upgrade, even though it would be the time, since they are different. I can find a local 2nd gen beam for $250(maybe less), but a 3rd gen is $400.

does anyone know the details on the differences? just on the axle beam. or are there any other models using the same beam?

just look at an OEM online parts catalogue or have the wrecking yard look in the Hollander book and see what crosses.i bet theres a lot that work.

Can't comment on the compatibility of rear axle beams; however, I do know that some OEM parts for French vs. Japanese built cars have different part numbers (and prices), but are identical parts.
