Finally got a yaris

Hey guys/gals I drove 13hrs round trip today for a great deal on a yaris.
Seems like an excellent car.
85k miles, manual, power door locks and windows, cruise control. Everything seems great.

Only thing, though is it occasionally shifts rough into reverse. Like a small clunk or something. Is this normal or should I check something out? Thanks for any input!

Welcome!
That's very common with this shifter configuration. Just shift to 2nd and then to R. Also make sure that you press the clutch pedal all the way to the floor (which can be tricky at first).

Also, if you have a driver's side floor mat try taking that out and see if the clunk goes away. I bought some hiking boots when I had about 200,000 miles on my Yaris. By the time I had about 207,000-208,000 miles those boots effectively killed the original floor mat on the driver's side. Up until that point, I was experiencing exactly what you are. After removing the floor mat, the clunk went away along with any hesitation going into any gear. I realized I had driven 207,000 plus miles with the clutch not completely engaging. I'm now closing in on 221,000 miles.

Welcome to Yarisworld! With 85,000 miles, you still have many likely trouble free miles ahead of you!

Haha will post pics soon. You're right^^^

Soo happy with the yaris. Been looking for a long time. Feel like a spoiled kid on Christmas.

Any must-do mods on the black yaris? Thinking a debadge on the back to make it look really clean

how funny

I just got an used yaris yesterday, 2008 3 dr automatic.

It is so cute.

Where can I locate the owner's manual in pdf for some fun reading please? since the one in toyota is broken into many pieces for no reasons and it is not a complete manual.

any idea on the 2008 Yaris 3 Door auto would be great... thanks.

by the way, does it has over drive? and what does it mean by 3D on the shift?

Thanks all!
