I would say 3" pipe would be over kill on our little car. I think 2" or 2.25" would be okay. Why are you thinking 3"? Will you be having forced induction soon?

I got a speeding ticket so I didn't have the money to get my custom job done... I thought 2" is what we have stock... well anyway forced induction won't be an option until I can reduce my 2 to 3 hour commute to less than 1 hour.

I am considering 2.5" after my next paycheck... Im just doing everything I can to make the slowest car in my group to be the loudest... but I don't want to lose any power...

In most states, loud will get you pulled over faster than speeding...

plus loud sounds rice.
go with a quiter but deeper tone, that usually does the trick, magnaflow does it right when it comes to mufflers.

I wouldnt recomend anything larger than a Folgers Can.

why would you wanna be the loudest? you are only gonna get in trouble with the law. if you are not gonna boost the car then a 2.25" diameter pipe will be best, in my opinion.

if you will be using fi then the 2.5" diameter will be ok. good luck!

2.25 it is... our 240 and 350z have 2.5 so i guess i can understand why it would be too much for our cars...

can that make much of a difference though? I don't know the size of the stock piping, but it can't be much less than 2.25 right?

I actually have a magnaflow muffler right now... it sounds deep... sounds nice... people give me a lot of crap because of it (everyone in the group likes to trash american made aftermarket parts), but I still like it.

magnaflow makes some nice parts so forget the ones that talk crap about it. and the stock pipe is way smaller than 2.25". i haven't meassured it but when i saw it i knew it had to go.

The stock pipe is choked down to 1.75 inchs after the resonator, I had mine redone to 2.25 inches and had a flowmaster 50 series muffler installed, sounds really good. This vid was before I had my header installed but you still get the point.

Simply buy a TRD muffler and have a shop build a catback system for it, of course staying with the idea of a high-flow cat.

Would the be reasonable, and at what price would i be looking at estimated for a shop to build one?
$150.00 Dollar Custom Catback here San diego

I have a little update with my new exhaust as well, I went to a new guy who knew what he was talking about, and after he got my exhaust down he found out our resinator has the restrictive 1.5 shit in it, same as the stockand after market axle backs.... so we cut the resinator out and out a spherical joint in (because flex was taken out when the header was installed) and ran a 2.25 resinator and 2.25 stainless madril bent all the way back to a 13" 40 series flowmaster with duel outlet silverline tips... Throttle responce is much better, I notice a little more low end, not much, a little... now I want to get the long TRD CAI off and get a short ram on there so she can realy breath...
I will get some pix up of the exhaust here soon... BTW it cost me about $400
