Clutch & Flywheel Installation help Needed.
Hi, I am planning to have my clutch and flywheel replace at home. Just wondering if anybody have that done at home before? What kind of tools I will need to get this done properly? If there have some pictures for the whole process will be great.
Thanks Victor |

lol, are you joking? personally this is something for me that i would take to get done just beacuse its my dd and ive never done it before.....
i have watched a few videos and read about how to replace the clutch and as far as i understand standard socket set and air tools will be enough. ull also need a seperate jack to hold the tranny up (i have heard a motorcycle jack works great for this). let me know when u wanna do this, if ud like the help ill be willing to lend a hand and im sure a few other gta guys may like to come for moral support. unless u find someone who has actually done it on a yaris before, i would set aside a weekend for it.

Do I need an Engine lift? Just wondering if I will have enough clearance to pull the Trans Out from bottom with the car on jack stand. |

It can be done in one, but you will at minimum need a transmission jack, a floor jack, and some jackstands, as well as a second person, or an oil pit and tall tranny jack. It's really not that hard...if you have any questions about the procedure, you can PM me here or @ MI and I will be more than happy to help in any way I can. I don't always follow threads on here, so PM is probably best. I'll post the PMs to the threads though so that anyone else will have the info.

Can I use the floor jack to lower the tranny or I will need an tranny jack adapter to do the job? |

i watched a video on youtube once on how to change a clutch (it was on a saturn) and the person did not need to drop the tranny, he basically just unbolted it and pushed it over and tied it off to a wood crossmember he placed ontop of the car that he also tied the engine off too

yaris - with the frame in the yaris, there is not enough room to back the tranny far enough away to work effectively. It's not really a big deal to drop it though...I literally picked it up off the jack and carried it to the work bench...maybe might be 60 pounds or so, if that.
Victor - I would use a 4 x 4 across the strut towers if you don't have a cross bar.
