Yaris isn't affected. Our floormats don't slide around enough

haven't toyotas been coming with those mat clips for quite some time now? and if a floor mat does get stuck can't you just put the car in neutral or turn the key or even try reaching down and pulling the mat out if the situation is looking that bleak?

Why not just put the car in neutral and apply the hand break? Why not just turn the key to accessory power to kill the engine?

Before the crash, one of the passengers called 911 to report that the accelerator was stuck and the car had reached 120 miles per hour (193km per hour).
seriously.. even if the accelerator was stuck, all the way down (why did it get stuck ALL the way down anyways???) one can apply the brakes, hard enough to keep the car from even moving, or from going that fast...

Yes. Watch the tv, watch shows like Real Time with Bill Maher.

You will immediately see how stupid americans are.

Also look at something major(for me) like network neutrality, and bandwidth overages/billing.

Companies still say prices for bandwidth are dropping, they are not losing customers, yet:

They lay off workers, and now want to insitute a cap on bandwidth and charge $$ for each extra GB of data transfered.

Yet, most americans wouldnt know wtf that meant even if they looked it up.

So in the end its another way to screw everyone over and put more money into th pockets of the BOD's, and CEO.

I'm sick of the way this country is run, and how no one with power is doing anything about the way we are turning into a greedy capitalist country.

I think people are just getting to reliant on technology—and becoming lazy because of it.

It was a Lexus after all. I mean, the car practically stops itself!

It can also drive itself, too!

people take technology for granted.when we have a bad storm and the power goes out for a day...you would REALLY think it was the end of the world. I work for walmart and you should see all the people running in and loading their carts with generators, milk, water, first aid kits...it gets nuts. then they get mad at the associates becuz we run out of generators.lol.it is really just sad.they just want the car to do everything for them so they can just sit there and go for a ride. im pretty sure if i didnt have clips for my floor mats that i would be just fine...lol they should be more worried about the pack rats that have tons of junk in their car and something getting jammed up underneath the brake.

haha. I was once in Canada when there was a black out, people were going insane and it even made the news..its was a 2hr black out. Honestly, get a fucking grip. Here in Lebanon we get black outs every 4 hours, but we got generators..so it's all good.

The car was keyless, so he couldn't just turn the key off, and you go ahead and pull the ebrake at 120. In fact, do it in the yaris with rear drums.

And this is clearly darwinism in action. I've had cars(both owned and rented) where the first thing I did was toss the floor mats. If you don't have the common sense to see a loose mat is gonna get caught under the pedals, you probably shouldn't be operating a car. The yaris is the first car I've driven with floor mats in a long time, because it has the clips.

Also, enough with the alarmism. They haven't even finished the investigation, and this is a VOLUNTARY recall by toyota.
