I feel that this is a loaded question. brake parts are cheap until you need calipers or electronics. i have the knowledge and tools to do my own brakes. if it were me, i would let it ride until signs that pads and rotors need replacement appear. Signs would be squeaking, squealing, metal on metal sound, pulling to one side, wobbling and/or shaking during breaking. These are only a few things that would cause me to get my hands dirty. Both the wife and my daughter have had quick change oil shops get them. A lot of shops have a tendency to up-sell unneeded services to less knowledgeable customers. my only suggestion is find a reputable mechanic and stick with them. build a report and have him/her educate you so you are more knowledgeable. i remember the $160 oil change for my daughter. The jiffy lube charged $29 to clean a k&n panel air filter and another $29 to attempt to clean a reusable oil filter (all they managed to do was scratch it up). She does her own oil now.
