Yes, people do have short memories. And if Obama wants to be judge negatively in the immediate 100 hours in office instead of the first 100 days... then by all means.

I do agree about the tax to an extent...but messing with the gas prices is taboo for anyone red or blue.

Gas taxes are for very short sighted people, much like hybrid Suv's that get less than 25 mpg. Lifes hard enough! Dad (84 yo) is ill and 500 miles away....daughter (11 yo) is 75 miles away, so thats 300 miles on the weekends. Tell the businessmen and politicians to use a little prudence on energy costs that don't come out of their pockets....hell just tell Gore to quit talking about conserving energy and just do it (doesn't he still use over ten times the energy of the average citizen even after he wants everyone else to cut down????)

Gasoline taxes are a form of consumption tax. As such they fall hardest upon the poorest people, especially the working poor who must commute to work and who can least afford to buy the most modern cars in the best repair.'

Mass transit is not necessarily an option, as it does not run often at night and rarely at all in rural areas.

Everyone seems to hate Big Oil because of their obscene profits. The federal government makes twice as much as Big Oil from each gallon of gas and everyone LOVES Mommy Government and constantly runs to her to make everything better.

No, I don't get it...

It's not the average consumer...... it is the trucking industry that is consuming more.

This is a circle of loss.

Gas/oil prices come down...... people save money but spend more on products in stores. A bit more gas is used to go to the store..... and more trucking is required to re-stock the store.

That's why I try to buy local. I saved a ton of money this year by going to the farmer's market rather than Kroger. Much cheaper, much healthier, and the quality can't be compared.
