Catback exhausts and rear disc brake conversions

In preparation for the long awaited 3rd GB, I'm looking into some more cool stuff.

EXHAUSTS

There's a very reputable exhaust manufacturer here who has a few goodies for our cars:

Complete headerback exhaust (including high flow cat) for Yaris and Vios (aka sedan)
and axleback exhausts for Yaris and Vios (i.e. the same type as all the other ones on the market)

The headerback for Yaris would be roughly $260 and for Vios $270

The axlebacks I will get a price confirmation tomorrow, but it should not be more than $150. I'll also know the exact pipe diameter then.

The style of the exhaust is the long canister kind:

REAR DISC BRAKE CONVERSION KIT

This is supposed to be a complete bolt-on upgrade kit, i.e. no modification of your existing car is required. It comes with 240mm (9.4") discs and 2-pot calipers. But, it's quite pricey, we're looking at roughly $880 for the kit.

So, what I need to know now, any more information you would like me to find out, and who would be seriously interested in any of these?

Header-back for absolutly sure.
Disc conversion, depending on when you need the $ by (aka; how long I have to save/beg/borrow/steal/etc).

well basically the GB would run as before, a couple of weeks to place order, a week to pay for them until I order the stuff, so basically you'd have until mid to end of october.

Wish I had a pipe bender I would make exhausts for this baby. It upsets me to see how many people and companies suffer due to lack of products that are in demand. If I had the resources I would be all over building these. I guess thats why I majored in Business.

After my ICE I'm getting a new exhaust. I love the way my car looks on the outside EXCEPT for that stock pipe sticking out the back. Yuck! It's all wimpy and stupid looking.

Is the stock muffler/exhaust welded or bolted on? Can I remove it myself?

Death,
it depends on what you want to take off. The muffler and tailpipe have a bolt on joint right at the rear axle, all you need is the right wrench or socket and pull the hangers out of the rubber connectors, it's off. The rest is just bolted to the stock exhaust manifold but it's a long piece to get out, might be a little tricky I haven't looked that hard. I'm not replacing anything until I'm ready to do the whole deal, header, cat(maybe, stock one might be okay) and the exhaust all the way back. I like the idea of the headerback unit but I kind of wanted a magnaflow or a flowmaster muffler. decisions, decisions!

I think it depends on your state, you are never supposed to replace the cat unless it is defective(according to the law), but some states don't do a visual inspection of your car as long as it passes the sniffer test or like certain places in PA if your car is new enough and you don't have a check engine light you're good to go.

If it will pass emissions I am in on the exhaust. also will this be available after the group buy? there is so much stuff popping up at once and mainly for GBs its almost impossible to do it all so if its possible to buy this stuff later that would be great. I am excited about the rear disc conversion.

That's a great price for a full exhaust system.

just interested, would that catalytic converter be able to pass emission here in Cali? i'm pretty sure that Thailand has lower standards than Cali (like everyone else). i may be interested in the axle-back for the Vios, but i don't think a canister type will look right on it...

I wouldnt think the 1.5 would give off that bad of an emissions test stock. Or is the tests hardcore now? Just move to Indiana we dont even have them :)

i just know that Cali is pretty harsh. shoot, when i had my GTI, it didn't pass because i didn't have the stock air box in.
