Retrofit a OEM Garage door opener from Toyota
Anyone done this; retrofit another Toyota/Lexus built in garage door opener into their Yaris?

I retrofitted our generic garage door opener into my Yaris. $20 on a momentary switch and two tiny dabs of solder. Very easy, looks and works great.

If you could, please share pics. What about Homelink?

Same principal as this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieyPtIhuezQ But my garage door opener had a hole I could put the wires through so no need for an extra box. I also did not use a multimeter. I just experimented touching the wires on the connectors and pressing the button until I found the ones that worked (very easy). And instead of drilling holes I just bought one of the below on eBay. http://www.aironboard.com.au/store/p...momentary.html Even connected the switch’s light to the car power so it lights up when keys are in the ignition. Don’t know anything about homelink but it should work with any door opener. Works perfectly and looks 100% like it’s a standard part of the car. |

I did it over the weekend when I installed the Scion stereo conversion. I installed the auto dim mirror along with garage opener. I got the mirror off of eBay. You only need to connect 3 wires (acc, 12v constant, ground). I ran the wires through the A pillar. Have a look...

Only cost $75 bucks from eBay and the mirror bracket is plug and play. The mirror is made by Gentex

What did you use for ACC and constant power? This is a good effective mod btw.

I used the wiring instructions from Toyota that I found on another post. Basically run the wires down the A pillar and tap the side mirror control plug. See attached instructions. I connected both power wires in the mirror to ACC. Didn't have a need for 12V constant as I don't plan on using the garage door opener when the car is not on.

Is it possible to install buttons to open the gate in the car?

Yes, of course. You need to buy a particular transmitter that costs relatively cheap. And install the button in the door body of your car. My friend made a similar design for himself.
For example, it's easier for me to carry the remote control from the gate along with the keys. A week ago, employees from one company just installed a new gate for me — https://everlastgates.com/. The remote control from the new model is just the size of a keychain. I do not advise you to install a mirror. It is pretty expensive, but it is not more effective than the same button.
