Texas talks Succession
Texas Gov. Rick Perry fired up an anti-tax "tea party" Wednesday with his stance against the federal government and for states' rights as some in his U.S. flag-waving audience shouted, "Secede!"
An animated Perry told the crowd at Austin City Hall — one of three tea parties he was attending across the state — that officials in Washington have abandoned the country's founding principles of limited government. He said the federal government is strangling Americans with taxation, spending and debt. Perry repeated his running theme that Texas' economy is in relatively good shape compared with other states and with the "federal budget mess." Many in the crowd held signs deriding President Barack Obama and the $786 billion federal economic stimulus package. Later, answering news reporters' questions, Perry suggested Texans might at some point get so fed up they would want to secede from the union, though he said he sees no reason why Texas should do that. http://www.statesman.com/news/conten...Tea_Party.html This is talk. Perry has been pushing Texas into the SPP too, especially with that big ass road that runs from Texas to Canada. There are consequences to things, including ideas and taking positions. A Republic of Texas would have to cope with Mexico on its border, manage defense arrangements, money and run their economy. It's not so easy. I for one wouldn't mind one way or the other. We can always trade with a Republic of Texas as easy as the State of Texas. Gene |

Well it's no secret that there was a movement for Vermont to secede from the USA and even declare war!! Google it!
It's simple secede, declare war, never surrender, and get occupied. The amount of aid in dollars and cents would be sufficient to make every VT person a millionaire over and over. Counties that receive aid from the US are permitted to trade and helped to prosper. We could do it w/o firing a shot and having any loss of lives. Basically VT is landlocked and the only boarder we would have to worry about is the one to the south...... we can't trust the people from Mass but we can apply to Canada to help guard that boarder I'm not too surprised about the rallies in TX. We have not seen any decent rallies since Viet Nam Civil Wars don't have to involve shooting.

Illegal? Try reading the Consitution, specifically the Tenth Amendment...

Or, you could simply read the Wiki page on State Rights! And while you are at it, also go read what was the intended purpose of the Second Amendment! And the above article was written to be political humor; but the one thing people should note is that like deception, humor also has to have a basis of truth for it to be effective. The bigger picture is that articles like this, and yesterday's 'Tea Party' protests, demonstrate how the a large number of Americans are not as enamored by the current administration as the media would like you to believe. Cheers! M2 |

We have had 12-13% unemployment here for a while, you'd think that would be a reason to leave a nation. And I know this article is meant for humor, but all of these 5,000 humor articles about Texas succeeding the nation are starting to get old. Just do it already! |
