))) Tein Super Compact coilover install tips (((
hey guys
got my Tein super compacts on this weekend , had 2 guys help me , one is a toyota mechanic , the other a coilover specialist. on first impressions the car is driving like a dream , when its set to soft it is so comfortable yet firm enough to still corner well , when its hard it feels like a full blown track monster , Tein is the shiz nizzz ! before any installing , make sure you measure your ride height all round to a solid reference point on the cars body or on a perfectly flat surface , so you have some figures to reference to when installing and to compare to after. ok , on to the Tips for the install that might help you guys in the future: 1 - a bit of help when installing the fronts is to remove the winscreen wipers , the plastic underneath and the metal covering under that with the wiper motor.the reason for that is if like me you have a strut bar , this is the route to go , its really easy to remove , less hassel i recon than having to set the strut bar again etc , i got the strut setup perfect , so i wanted to keep it that way. 2 - make sure you trim your bump stops and dustcovers for the front shocks setup. 3 - install the front first and set the front ride height before moving on the the rear.once you have the ride height set between putting the wheels on and then dropping to the ground each time to check , then move to the rear. 4 - the rear is really easy to do , no hickups. just remember to hack the rear spacer out of the OEM dust cover as that piece of info isnt included in the install manual. 5 - also there are 2 nylon threaded nuts included in the kit that needs to be installed on top of the shock thread as a locking nut , personally we re-used the OEM ones as the nylon threaded nuts where way to stiff to go on and can possibly be a bitch to get off or even damage the delicate thread. lastly we found that by setting the front camber only slightly more negative that stock we were able to dial in alot more grip on the front wheels. so last tip: when doing wheel alignment after the install , make sure you do the folowing settings for added grip. OEM front wheel camber : -0,10 degrees camber setting after install: -0.18 degrees thanks to the guys on the forum for the tips the gave thus helping me to better understand the install and make it as easy as can be. pics to follow soon , as my camera batteries died when i wanted to take the shots , LOL ! Teins are AWESOME !!! |

yes , the EDFC does work on the yaris and there is available , although the front body under the wipers needs a little trimming for the motors to fit in.
