Best full tank since new : 44.199 m.p.g.
Quite sure this is the best so far . Refilled with VALERO 89 w/E10 at 1 click . This tank included 1 > 3 people ( mostly 2 ) , gusty winds , many hills , 25% city , and some interstate ( 20% ) . Ride back was mostly interstate ( 43.9 mis. ) . Oil is Pennzoil Ultra 5w-30 synthetic , tires are Bridgestone Ecopia EP 422s' at 37 p.s.i. purchased in May , and a 10 ounce dose of CHEVRON Techron in previous tank . Eco-Meter was set at 97 , bumped it up to 98 after fill up .

You might want to increase your tire pressure to the max on the sidewall. It will help in the mpg.

With my 1.0 2009 HB I get 4,8l/100km, afaik about 48MPG :P
Including driving with 80 MPH on the Autobahn ;) My Trick: Not kicking the accelerator beyond half and having bought one with manual transmission :) |

Having a 1.0 engine (in a Yaris).....I wish = a trick easy to pull off in the U.S.

^ Would be nice . The new Mirage is close . Think Ford is coming out with a 1 ltr. turbo for the Fiesta . Did test drive a used 1 ltr. Sprint hatchback with the manual . Back in the days of old . Getting this for now ( 44.9 ). Give or take a a bit for actual F.E.. Doubt will be able to keep it . Have the tires at 37 cold , checked them after driving about 26 mis. , read 38.5 hot . Was in the lower '80s .

What are you doing with your cars?
I got 47 MPG on a ~50 miles run yesterday without any problems... If the track has only a few hills, I even reach 49... |

You have a 1.0 liter engine. Those of us in the U.S. have a 1.5 liter engine. Many of us in the U.S. wish we had the option of selecting the engine you have. The 1.5 liter engine is the only engine available in the USDM Yaris.

Do they [car manufacturers in general] still give the car price the highest priority? Strange thing although, seems they don't consider the US buyers looking for a good MPG. By the way, what's the fuel price where you live? In Germany it's about 1.60€/l, that's 2.1$/l or 7.96$/gal (I took the US liq gal value, hope this is correct...) Yesterday I took a ride to Luxemburg, just a few kilometres from here, there it's only 1.38€/l / 1.82$/l / 6.89$/gal . (for comparison: fully comprehensive insurance (with a high discount by a trick, would be double the price else) costs me 790$/yr, tax is 26$/yr; 10$/hr is the usual wage for unlearned holiday workers like me ) I don't know the prices you pay, but in the end I reckon it's still cheaper for you, even with the bigger engine (sorry for my english, I hope it's understandable) |

I applaud you for trying to have as much fun with this as you do. In contrast with my new AEM EMS, modified fuel regulator at 60psi, 9lbs of boost, and 5 gallons of VP100 racing fuel I used roughly 4.5 gal in 8 passes over the weekend with speeds over 120mph in at least 1 mile of each run so that would be around 9 miles I bet at over 120mph pushing WOT and then of course a total of 4.5 miles going 0-120 at WOT. Throw in there actually as well 2 22 mile round trippers to get back and forth to the track. This is making my head hurt! Last year in contrast on straight pump fuel, 93 octane, and a stock regulator at 43/44psi, and 8lbs of boost I avg around 29mpg.

No, the 3 cylinders gasoline engine with single VVT.
The diesel engine has 1.4 l if I remember correctly. I decided against it because although I'm a daily driver, I dont' drive a long way, the bigger diesel engine takes more time to warm up and last but not least, the tax on these engines is far higher (about 15-20* that of mine (no typo!)). (This is also the reason why the 190D I used to drive before sleeps in the garage now - despite the rather clumsy engine it was somewhat horny - but in the end, if f*cked my wallet ~400€/yr just for tax ) |

I've driven in Italy, France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Monaco....and the price of fuel in each place amazes me. The cost of an equivalent vehicle (equivalent to what is available in the U.S.) is equally amazing. Some places are much cheaper to drive in than the U.S., but much of the so called developed world is more expensive (to drive in) than the U.S. |
