Chevy Aveo RS: Turbo + good looks = build it!

I think the Aveo RS is a great looking concept! 1.4-liter turbo, direct injection, good looks: I hope they build it!

Minus the Evo X headlights and "eyebrow ridge" crease, it does look pretty sweet

Its a chevy, and looking like that(rims, brakes, body kit, etc) I imagine it would start around 18k+

no thanks, would rather just turbo the yaris for cheaper and put down better numbers

if chevy sold something like that for say.... 14k.... I think they would mop up the econobox market. The aveo is like $8k stock right?.... yeah. Keep it under 15k looking just like that and they could sell a bunch.

I agree with what they are saying on MI.... drop the Aveo name... Chevy needs to drop the memories of the past.... ohhh FOREVER, and build a new image... kinda like FORD started to do back when they introduced the Focus... and Mazda when they dropped the x2x line and just renamed stuff the "3" or "6" and gave it new styling.

With 140hp it will only have to be in the same ball park pricewise as the fits & yari to sell. Meaning... 15k will make the Chevy a respectable contestant. If it has the looks of lip kit and big wheels too.... the only thing Toyota & honda will have over the chevy is a good reputation.

Thats an american FI sub-compact. Don't look forward to be spending less than 16000 for it.

Edit: Closest thing we got to it that is actually available is the Dodge Caliper SRT-4 which is 25,000.

No, I don't think so. Note the front end/headlamps are different on the Aveo RS.

Here's where it gets confusing. The "Spark" you linked to above, is currently on sale in India as the "Beat." However, the Spark in India is a different car ...

http://www.chevybeat.co.in/

This might clear it up:

US "Spark" (as linked to in the above post)

Indian-market Chevy Beat

Indian Market Chevy Spark (Rebadged Daewoo Matiz)

New Chevy Aveo RS concept from Detroit

So, you can see that the Aveo RS and the US Spark (aka Indian Beat) look pretty similar towards the rear, but the door lines and front fascias are different.

I think it looks f-in' awesome! Don't like the rear taillamps though. And yeah, hot-hatch turbos FTW!

All the Americans in this thread already own one of these. We funded its design and production, and not by choice.

I say let this thing sink along with the company. They don't deserve to be in business and any "American" who buys their product is an imbecile.

People say that about Toyotas, too.

I am totally willing to give them a chance. I'm 100% sure they can make a good car if they want. Look at Hyundai. Top 5 in quality, they're selling lots of cars, and they're good. If Hyundai can do it, I'm sure Chevy can, too.

Hyundai doesn't have unions, has been working toward high quality standards for a decade, and are relatively financially secure.

GM had to file for bankruptcy to shake off their union laborers, has low quality standards (in both production AND design), and, as said before, are bankrupt. The motivation for their employees to do their best isn't there. Any GOOD engineer is trying to find another job, and the production employees are losing their incredibly high pay and costly benefits.

It's a bad mix, and the company WILL ultimately fail.
