Cool Hai to all from Savannah!

Greetings. :D I've been lurking for a while now and made my first post a few weeks ago in a 'black Yaris' picture thread but figured that after having my new to me Yaris for just shy of 2 months now, I should probably share.

My old MK3 Jetta 2.0 was tired, breaking all the time, and after the coolant system went for the second time in six months, it served little more than a pile of white scrap metal in my driveway. The only way that car knew how to work was by making me have fits of rage. Alas, it saw me through most of college, so in very few small ways, I was sad to see it go.

Not very dearly departed:

Now that all of that reminiscing is out of the way...

I really needed decent wheels. I was after reliability the most, obviously, with better gas mileage a close second as I did a lot of commuting back and forth from Savannah to Murfreesboro, TN for school (473 miles each way). I looked LONG and hard at the '01-'05 gen Honda Civics and had come across a nice example with 131K for $5K. The morning I went to look at the Civic for a second closer look, I happened to pop onto Autotrader and saw this little gem on there. I had seen this Yaris up for sale for several months (this was January '10 and the car had been listed since October '09) and the price had fallen ANOTHER $1K after falling $2K from the original asking price.

I already had experience with the Yaris before as my girlfriend had gotten one while we were in college in TN. She has an '08 automatic and the only thing I disliked about it was...it was an automatic. This car was EVERYTHING I wanted and the only reason I was considering used Civics was because I felt I didn't have the money for a Yaris off the lot.

Suffice to say, and to make a long story slightly longer, I went to the dealer this car was for sale at for a test drive, talked some numbers, went to work that night and mulled it over, called USAA and got financed and went back the next day. Walked with this 2009 Yaris HB with 29K on it for $8559. I think that's a hell of a deal. :D

Anyway, here's some pictures and the few cosmetic mods I've already done in the two months of owning it. I love pictures, and living in an art intensive town and having a younger brother going to school for photography, I have a lot of pictures already, so hopefully I don't crash the server. :) Enjoy!

The girlfriend's white '08. Started the love affair.

My '09 posing with her '08.

The night I got it, and playing around downtown the next day. Amazingly, we got our first snow in many years the day after:

These next set are after a few mods, including white LED parking lights, and yellow Nokya fogs with Lamin-X on the lens. I also learned the wiring diagram on here to rewire fogs to come on with parking lights. All YarisWorld mods. You all are a very helpful resource!

Thank you all for providing a great forum! I have a few other little mods in the future that I'm hoping to get done throughout the summmer. Probably some TRD springs and rear sway, and I really really want some Mini S Lites to replace the stock pizza cutters when those tires wear out. As of now, it's just put gas in and drive. Couldn't be happier!! :D

I'll let you all go back to daily YW discussion. As for me, I'm off to go back to lurking!

kthxbai.

Yep! You've definitely been to SAV before. :D Thunderbird Inn makes for some great backdrops, and the Talmadge is right there going over into S Carolina. . .and the boobie bars. It's a great place to visit. But after 11 years (I was only gone for 5 semesters of college out of those 11 years) I'm ready for some scenery.

Nice Yaris, except for the UGA sticker (GO GATORS! ).

We've been to Savannah on several occasions (my family is in Jacksonville), it's a great town and we really enjoy visiting there.

And welcome to the Yaris family!

Cheers! M2

Sloth,
If you were in the BB Yaris with a spoiler, that was probably me in the black Yaris that saluted. Did you get on the SW Bypass?

Personally, I can't wait to get back to the Dragon. I went there in my Jetta when I lived in Murfreesboro for school. It is 100x as fun as it already looks.

yep that was me. Gave salute back lol. I was on my way to school. We should meet up sometime. you don't live behind the dollar store off of king george do you? I have language classes there and I think I saw your car there a while ago. It's a gated apt...? anyway I really haven't got a chance to push my Yaris but I'm planning on it some day. I usually just go a little bit faster than I'm supposed to on on-ramps.
