Tinted Windows

Here's a link to a gallery where you can see many cars with tinted windows, and also the tint % of each one. (For those like me who are incertain about the % to put on their car)

http://www.tintmyride.ca/gallery.htm

If you want to post pictures of your tinted windows it would be nice to do it here, so everyone would have an idea of what it looks like on a yaris.

Please don't forget write the % of your tinted windows

Not a bad site. A little too IE-centric for my taste. Web devs, support those alternative browsers!

Still...appreciate the link.

What percent did you get?

I'm going to get mine tinted at 35%. I'm still going to go to the pros to get it done, b/c it's only $125 for all the windows minus front windshield. They also use llumar tint too.

I usually go that route as well with every car we buy.. this time I figure i'd be the "gennie pig" and test out a cheaper solution for those here not looking to spend over 70 bucks for tint.

Normally I go 20%, but what I ordered for the Yaris was 35%.

Let us know how it works out. I'm interested in trying that stuff too. I just got a sedan though. That rear window looks like it may be a bit tricky to work on. Anyhow, I'm going with 5% limo. I work in Palm Springs, where it's been over 100 degrees since sometime in April. This weekend it got up to around 115 and that's not even the peak yet. It'll eventually get up to around 120!

To do a 1 piece rear window, I saw the window tinter (when he was doing my rsx) spray the back window and put the tint on the outside. He then used a heat gun to get the tint to bend with the window. After he got all the curves done, he took the window tint off and put the tint on the inside of the car.

That sounds like a pretty good idea. My problem though is that the rear window on the sedans slopes down against the rear deck pretty tightly. It looks like the tint is going to have to be squeezed between the glass and the rear deck.

Yes it does slop down, and is a paint to tuck in down there.. I just had mine done the other day at a pro shop, got 5% on the rear and rear sides, 50% on the fronts and windshield. He did just like the other guy said, the laid it out on the back outside window, used a heat gun to shape it, and then cut it to size, then applied it to the inside.. They used all kinds of special wedges and stuff to tuck it in all the corners and under the seals. Did the same with the windshield, shaping it and exactly cutting a hole where the rear view mirror mounts.

I'd only have a pro shop do tint, exspeicaly with the rear. .You mess up the rear and you can damage the defroster grid or the radio ant tyring to fix it.. plus with a good shop you get a lifetime warranty, and it looks perfect and no mess or hassel.. These guys made sure the glass was perfectly clean before hand, and that the tint was kept clean, done in an indoor bay with no fans or anything to blow dust, etc onto the windows or tint while they work, and had all kinds of special tools and panels to work with the tint.

I paid $225 for all, including the windshield, with lifetime warranty for fading, cracking, bubbles, etc. Took them about 3 hours to do, most of the time was the rear window and front windshield.

try driving like me and tankota with 5% or 0% in the rear. it's ridiculously dark, haha, but still visible. it's hard to parallel park at night..

Yeah, but it's wonderfull for all those people with bad aftermarket HID's behind you.. No more driving blind..

due to my truck I'm used to not using the rear anyways, and just use the side mirrors. Besides, with the Yaris you just can't tell from the rear window how close you are, you have no rear bumper refrence at all.

No problem, Sorry I just didn't get a shot until yesterday after work..The tint on the front looks darker than it is becasue the glass is soo reflective, and the interior is black too.. but here they are:
