Buying a 2009 Yaris S Sedan... need opinions
$13,495 seems outrageous at a glace, but the car fax indicates there's some new replacement parts for the vehicle including the drive belt, brake pads & rotors, and 2 tires. Here's the car fax:
http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...&partner=ATD_T The PureCars value favors this vehicle tremendously: http://app.purecars.com/ValueReport2...BT903091341680 I know ultimately I'll have to drive the vehicle and inspect it myself to make the judgment call. My question is assuming everything is as excellent as they say it is... is 13k+ too much to pay for a 2009 Yaris Sedan S? What kind of questions/issues too look for should I arm myself with before going to the dealership? Thanks so much for the help. |

13k is outrageous. The fixes they've done are probably worth $500 tops.

A new Yaris starts at $14.8k...
I bought my '09 a few years back with 54k miles on it, one owner, clean car fax, for $7000. For another few bucks you could get a new 2015. |

That's crazy. You could near enough get a new one for that. And parts they put on are of no concern of yours. Of COURSE they're supposed to sell you a working car.

Thank you, everyone. The car is certified pre-owned with only 30,000 miles. They're offering 1.9 APR financing. What's the most you'd pay if you really loved the car....

Looks like this car was a rental fleet car.
In the states, i would pay 8k tops. |

I see what everyone is saying. Here's the ad if anyone can convince me I'm not crazy. It's pristine, fully loaded with side air bags, real wheels (not caps), leather steering wheel, rear defrost, fog lamps, rear spoiler, power everything (except seats of course), keyless entry. Otherwise I'll keep looking and appreciate your honest advice. |

I paid $9000 for a Toyota certified 08 last year with one year bumper to bumper warranty and a complete going over by Toyota new battery, brakes pads, wipers etc etc etc.
I felt a little silly buying it because ANY Yaris that runs and drives and has an A title with nothing obviously wrong with it is probably OK to buy. We needed a car in a hurry though so there wasn't much time to look.

The S sedan package for 2007 was roughly 16k out the door and that was in 2006. Here is the NADA listing for your prospective 09 S :
They are pricing almost 2k over what the clean retail is. granted it looks like a well taken care of chassis, but I think they are mistiming an attempt to take advantage of the great mpg they have and that the S was limited in the Northeast. Hell, when I bought mine I actually had to buy it in MN and drive it back! They didn't even offer the S model sedan for 07/08 in New England dealer direct.

Interesting. The dealer is giving me 2300$ for my 07 sedan S with 70k miles.
The market in Canada is sure different. |

I smell a dealer rip-off...I have a 2008 Yaris sedan, 5-speed with 62,000 km (36k miles) and last fall when I was thinking of trading it in on a Rav4 - the dealer offered me $6,600 for mine on a trade-in. Throw your car on Auto Trader - you will come out way ahead. |

62k is low miles. Mine is mfg in 2006 and have over 140k at the time of appraisal. It's quite a difference, plus mine is pretty banged up with scratches and dings here and there. It makes a huge difference.
