problems with TRD INTAKE.....

does anyone else who owns one have the problem of the clamps around the bypass tube loosening up causing the intake tube to be exposed??/ i thought at first it was cause i like to launch hard and bang 2nd gear but this time i was a good boy. i got home yesterday and the car was sputtering and almost stalling out at idle. got out and looked and the intake tube was fully exposed...... WTF....

have had mine on for almost 3k miles...no problems at all. made you tightened it down properly? is the pipe inserted all the way into the clamp? i had a tough time squeezing it in there.

You can always throw a little silicon on it (RVT) inside the joints to keep it from slipping... a tiny amount is all that should be needed. I had this problem with a Neuspeed intake on my Jetta, bu no problems on my Yaris with my Weapon R, and I drive some hard roads with coil-overs at high speeds.

How much did you guys pay for your TDR intakes? I'm seeing them for around $40 on eBay and that just sounds.. sketchy beyond comprehension.

Those are not real TRD's, they are cheep imitations... most of them do not even have a place to mount your MAF.... I paid $355 for my TRD CAI... I think you can get them on ebay for about $250 or so now... they are the same as the AEM with the water bypass

Got my TRD for $330. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the AEM a once piece intake and requires cutting for the bypass valve? Whereas the TRD is a two piece which allows effortless install of the valve.
