Is now a Corolla S Owner

Have ya missed me?
Hi, Folks!
I haven't been on the board for a good while. I hang out on a Corolla forum on another site now, since I am a "Rolla" owner. I am really happy with my 2010 Corolla S that I bought June 3rd. I have 9500 miles on it already. If anyone is curious about the difference in gas mileage between a Corolla and a Yaris, I have some data for you. I owned the Yaris from April of 2009 until June 3rd of 2010, and I kept track of every single gallon of gas that I ever put in the car. The overall average for the Yaris was 36.8 MPG. I have also kept track of every gallon of gas I have put in the Corolla, and the average MPG for that puppy is 32.7. I probably drive the Rolla with not quite as much thought to conserving gas as I did when I drove the Yaris. I don't "hot rod" the Rolla, but I probably drive a little faster than I did when I had the Yaris. The Yaris was a fine little car. It did all that it was supposed to do and then some. I just get these darn urges to trade, you know? I am very happy with the Rolla, but I would be happier with a brand new shiny red Camaro SS six speed. Tom |

Thanks for the update Tom. I'm glad you enjoy the Corolla. I thought your daughter also had a Yaris?

I thought that your need to always have a new car has kept you broke most of your life. Having a new car is nice, however, trading in a car 14 months old is very expensive.

Hey, it's Tom!!! Nice ride but we know you'll be back... You'll soon be tired of your current ride (whatever it is)
Good to hear from you, Tom |

Not rude at all. This IS a car forum, right?
I got that puppy pretty loaded. I got the moon roof and the JBL stereo with a six disc CD changer. I got the auto tranny, but I really wish I had gone with the five speed manual. The sticker price was $20,705, and I paid $400 over invoice, which came to $19,312. Tom |

I avoided new cars until we got the Yaris. I'm used to it, but there are still things I don't like, most of them having to do with new cars in general, ie, working on them is verboten without a computer...
Not many problems with it, but it still feels blind (Volvo 245 for comparison), 3 years later I still hate the throttle, a bit nervous in the wind, stuff like that. Too late, I run my cars until they are no good to anyone else, so I guess I'll have my Yaris for some years to come. If I want a new car, I will build it myself! |
