Tanabe Medallion Touring exhaust overspray
Just a quick question,
I had a dent on my car, got it fixed and repainted, but the b!7cH oversprayed some paint on the exhaust. You cannot see the paint and a patch on the exhaust, but it is more like the surface of the exhaust is a bit rough and not smooth. How can I remove this stuff to get the chrome back |

you could try using a heavy cutting compound, (for paint fininshing)
or a metal finish polishing compound . from supercheap or repco just too name 2 places . |

Would it affect the chrome?

I would say no. Your exhaust is constructed from stainless steel and is polished, not plated with chrome? So by polishing it, you're buffing all that overspray off.. and voila nice mirror finish again..

Acetone, thinners, brake clean. Any solvent will remove paint and not harm stainless.

if you want a nice brushed look, a scotch brite and some gojo will work wonders.

ahh my bad, didn't see you weren't in the US
gojo is a pumice based hand cleaner so, any pumice or "grit" based hand cleaner will work but as you said, you want it to be mirror finish, so don't do this. as it's already been said, i recommend acetone.

Jinxor, take it back to them and have them fix it up themselves. I have spent the last two weeks removing overspray from my car and buffing it back up and it's not fun. They should have masked it up properly in the first place.

We recently had our Camry fixed, and it had some overspray here and there. Dad took it back to them and they buffed it all out and had the car back in our hands in 2 hours.. So i also say take it back since you have overspray in a few places.

A rag soaked in mineral sprit (sp?) will work wonders in about 10 seconds no joke and won't mess up the muffler . I had a cf muffle welded up on my gst eclipse and the jackass painted over the carbonfiber with black paint , Wtf??? came home and wiped it off in 10 seconds with the mineral sprit and a rag .

a claybar takes off overspray on paint maybe it works on finished metal. first thing that came to my head was paint thinner or something like it real quick then rise it off really well.

+1 for bodyshop clay. Clay the mirrors when you are washing the car (lubrication). Clay your exhaust too, and then polish it up.
