vios engine swap to 2zzge
any links for any documentation that this has already been done?
I checked on the sticky that its already been done on a sedan, however, are there any links or any info about the costs, parts to change, or if the transmission of vios sedan will fit the 2zz engine? Please enlighten us great ones! |

It's been done here, and in Puerto Rico, but nobody seems to be able to find any solid information/build logs :(

I believed that you've done it as well, however, I am not sure on what engine you've used.
how much did it cost you? and how's the overall performance? |

Yup, that is what Thomas is running. In his neck of the woods doing a major swap for here is a drop in the bucket cash wise from what it sounds like.

oops didn't see this thread replies..
Yes, I'm running a 4A-GZE converted to turbo, but it was NOT an easy swap, engine bay frame rails are too close together and had to be trimmed. Took 9 months and about US$7,000 to get it done. *apparently* a 2ZZ is much more straightforward to fit, and I sometimes regret not going that route. That being said, I love this new engine :D under 3000RPM it behaves more or less like a normal engine, but once the boost kicks in after that, wheeeee... Right now it's running at low boost, with about 200hp at the wheels, but the engine's been tested to run at 300hp with no issues, but I'll need a few other upgrades before I turn up the boost. Here's a quick walkaround showing the engine in details: http://youtu.be/sWzhuMHjBtc and some more details: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40838

You should really spend a few and read this entire sticky. But to answer you question, no. Only 1 motor will bolt directly up to the usdm yaris with no fab work is the 2zr-fe that would increase power. Same motor thats in the Scion xD. You will need to get the motor mounts from a european yaris that has that same motor I believe. 2zr is about 130hp, so its only a 25hp gain. but its a 1.8L. The worse part I think would be your re-wire dash harnes and ecu harness to get all guages and stuff working properly. or just run standalone

more and more it will be this way from the manufacturers unless you buy a Dodge Dart..haha. I think those have like 7 trim levels and 4 different engine/tranny combos.
