No, theres no knob on the dash to adjust the level... It just seems to do it automatically... As soon as you switch on the lights, you see the beam move upwards... with the old headlamps, it would stay there, but with the new ones, it moves upwards, and then goes back downwards to what seems like the bottom setting...

On a short drive this evening it did move upwards for a few seconds, and then moved back downwards, couldn't replicate it though...

Is there additional wiring that goes to the leveling motors?

There is a socket with i think 3 or four wires that plugged into the levelling motors on the Vitz Headlamps. I plugged the same socket into the levelling motors on the new Yaris Headlamps...

Just had another look, and adjusted the manual knbos on the motor, which helped mildly when the ignition is off. But once ignition is on, the motors come on, and it moves upwards first, then moves downwards to a very low setting. Took it out for a drive to see if anything would change but it stayed in this position...

Looking at the Japanese EWD, I see there are red, green and White/black wires going to the two motors, but then there is also the knob inside to adjust them, so yours has something different. I would put the connectors on loosely (without being fully latched) and then turn the headlights on and when they reach the desired position, simply unplug them.

I wonder if the new Yaris headlamps I have fitted are meant for a car with the dial on the dash with the 0-1-2-3 level settings, and because the Vitz had an Auto System, it could be confused... Maybe I need to get my hands on one of those dials to manually adjust height?

EDIT:
Just checked the ToyoDiy page for some diagrams. On the Jap spec Vitz RS, it shows 84152 - Switch, Headlamp Leveloing - Not Applicable.

Under Toyota Yaris, and under the Vitz U, I'LL and F spec, it shows 84152-52080 Switch, Headlamp Leveling.

this suggests to me that the RS has an Auto leveling system, and the lower specs used a manual adjustment. As the headlamps i have are meant for a Yaris, they probably need a manual switch system, which leads me to my next question... should my RS have the socket for this switch hidden somewhere behind the dash which would let me just buy a switch for it so it works properly?
