Yaris front fender damage
Someone hit my front fender in a parking lot and left the scene. There is a decent sized dent on it, but no major scratches on it. I've read that I could remove the fender and use body shop hammers to bang out the dents. ($35 at harbor freight). Anyone have any experience banging out dents? Is it easy to remove the fender?
The alternative is to buy a aftermarket primed fender for about $60 shipped. But then I would have to get it painted. Here is a pic of the damage. |

Replace.
Dents can usually be pounded out provided the metal has not creased. You appear to have incurred a serious crease in the metal. Any attempt to pound that out would more than likely result in some paint damage and a repaint would be required any way.

Replace it, it will lever look right if you try to hammer it out. Its really easy to remove.
You might even be able to find a used one in the right color, I was able to get a door here: http://car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi

Sorry to hear about this. I agree this looks like a candidate for replacement.

You might want to take it to a body shop or other frame specialist to have a look at it. It looks more like your bumper got hit and the front end is crumpled than someone just hitting your fender and creasing it especially since you say there are no major scratches on it...

Yariesteve... you are correct. I think the bumper was hit, which caused the fender to crumble.
What's annoying is every time i hit a bump the tire rubs on the mudguard. |

Final cost of repairs was very good. Aftermarket fenders are so cheap! Post a pic of the repaired car.
