brake and rotors
Ok, I just went for my annually car inspection because my car is still plated in New Brunswick and tadam...after 202821kms i need brake pads and rotors...NOW the big question, Toyota want 330$ plus taxes for the whole job (129.95 for brake job inc labor) and 90$ each rotor... anywone have a cheaper but as reliable alternative? I live in Montreal and I can't imagine that no one sell more performant but less expensive parts than Toyota!
HELP! thanks |

Are you mechanically inclined? Do the rotors have sufficient material left? If so buy the pads, get the rotors turned and do it yourself.

I can't do it myself! I am not good enough for that. the guy at toyota said they can turn the rotors but will have to do it again in few weeks since I do 2000kms each week. will check alternative around here and will go back to nb in 2 weeks anyway to get my sticker for my inspection so it gives me that time to find something cheaper!
thanks for the reply |

Last time I checked local sources for brake parts, the Yaris was essentially still too new for traditional outlets (ie Canadian Tire) to bother stocking replacement parts yet. That was 2 years ago. Since our cars are now becoming of age the situation could be completely different now. Good luck in your search. Post up if you find something.
Also, DIY for pad and rotor replacement is really quite easy. Have faith in your abilities. It's only two bolts once the wheels are off. EDIT: Toyota labour pricing actually seems quite reasonable since parts are $180 for rotors and ~ $70 for pads (plus taxes)

^ R1 Concept rotors OEM would be about $70 here, but the shipping probably makes it too expensive for you.

Any shop can do this, if your worried about part availability call them ahead of time. The Dealer is trying to screw you over. There is no reason why you would have to get your rotors re-turned.

I got my parts. for 84$ i got all i needed, for the rotors that need to be turned, theres a groove on the rotor and he said he could turn them but he might have to turn it again in 6 months. I do 2000+kms a week so probably ill be back in the shop in few weeks to get them changed anyway.
