NEED SOME INPUT:Check engine came on AGAIN!
I was driving today, and my air filter Head came loose and fell off as i was pulling into the driveway, i picked it up, the mounting wasn't damaged ,so i put it back on, as soon as i did, my Check engine light came on, did something get into the engine that quick? should i bother taking it to Auto zone to get it reset, or should i just remove the battery terminal? the component doesn't look damaged, just scratched! any suggestions would be nice...
----------------------------------------------------------- After cutting power from the car for about 8 minutes, the light dissappeared, today i was drivng from work and it went back on!!!I'm really pissed, autozone won't turn it off, does this mean theres possible damage to the sensor? where is that sensor at? what should be my next move? (other than taking it to the dealer, f. that.) Last edited by Syroyizhka; 04-29-2009 at 05:12 PM. |

We need to set a reasonable date, and we'll need a location that will be the most convenient.

Okay... so I was at the dealership, and they forgot to reset the check engine light for oil change. So, I went back in to have them turn it off. The guy showed me what to do for future reference (since I am always tinkering under the hood). It is very simple. Turn the car on, and make sure the trip meter is on trip meter A. Turn the car off. While holding the trip resetbutton, turn the car to "Accessories On" (right before actually starting the car). Now, wait until the dash resets, and it should be off now. If it fails, PM me and I'll try to walk you through it again.

ohhhhhh..... they told me today that to reset all the computers, pull the terminals off the battery and wait overnight. This also resets radio, all driving and mapped curves for fuel, air, barometer, and idle speeds, but it does make it nice to start over. Should take a week of daily driving to fully relearn everything. Except the radio... soon as you punch in the "save to memory", it saves the station.

I am resetting my engine tonight, because of the 5,000 ft elevation difference between Washington and Colorado. My car is sucking right now. No power anywhere on the power curve. It won't rev right even when the clutch is all the way in. Very disappointing. Oh well, hopefully tomorrow I can start resetting the power curve and get a few more ponies out of it.

According to the guy at the dealership (the top service guy), he said the lag is because the barometer isn't acting right. It is so used to lower elevations, it will take several weeks to adapt. OR... I can reset the computer, and it will run like carp for just a couple of days, then get all better in about 1 week. (I knew I shouldn't have replaced all those parts!)
