does it do line returns, or how does it sort out separate lines of information when you decode it with your phone?

If you choose the "contact information" option, you can enter name, address, email, website (with line breaks) and when my iphone reader reads it, it even will automatically create a contact from it.

Looks like it uses some form of XML tagged text. So it may be proprietary depending on what phone you're making it for... though a vCard should be standardized ... meh.

just tried this today with my evo 4g, worked perfectly, now im curious to get one of those stickers made he was talking about.

It was a great eight year run, but it was time to focus on other things. I'm still selling parts on eBay under micro*image seller ID and customers can still make requests for anything specific.
