Lsd for C51 gearbox

So its time to get an LSD for the C51 gearbox that comes in the Corolla Axio GT.
From research i have been able to find out that the Cseries 50/51/52/56 gearboxes share the same LSD. But the C150/151/160 dont share the same LSd as they have different bolt pattern.

So the car is going to be daily driven and occasional spirited driving but not tracked.

What would you guys advise helical or clutch type?

I know that the helical is fit and forget type with zero maintenance whereas the clutch types need regular transmission oil change and at some point the clutch packs will need changing.

In terms of performance which is better ?

And yeah,is this good?

Awaiting your views/experienced opinions.

Thanks.

There's the 6 bolt diffs and 8 bolt diffs. So you only need to know what one is in your transmission. And I've heard bad things from that phantom grip diff destroying the diff eventually.

There's other considerations too: which "way" they work, i.e. 2-way, 1.5-way and 1-way. 1.5 seems to be the way to go for non-track use. I'm looking at the Quaife helical for my C56 frankenstein for the convenience factor.

I am also looking at a Quaife just not sure if its the one for my car. Part#QFD15E is this the right one for a 2008 yaris 5spd.

I finally opted for the Cusco 1.5 way. The TRD was way too expensive.

As far as I know, that's the right model for the Yaris (2nd gen.) C50. The Canadian Yaris (1st gen.) and Echo use the C150 with a 6-bolt differential. There's a different part number for that one, but I don't know it right off hand.

Which model did you go with? There's a LOT of different configurations out there. If you don't mind me asking, how much was it?

I'd like to know too -- we are a Cusco dealer and it's very difficult to beat our prices.

^ Yes, I'm getting a quote on that part number now. I also have Kaaz and OS Giken, both of which I've been very happy with.

More information for you.

Cusco doesn't make their own diffs, they are re-branded.

After further homework and some experienced advice, I wouldn't run a Quaife in my Yaris -- the quality is not up to my spec.

Better quality and lower price is the Kaaz, and the premium diff is going to be the OS Giken. Those are the two I will continue to offer with confidence.

If you really want a Quaife, they are about $950 shipped. I didn't say I wouldn't sell you one, if that's what you really want.

Mind you that i am not in the US,in fact importing from Japan works out cheaper in terms of shipping.

The LSD is Cusco RS 1.5 way Part number LSD 111 C 15.
Its for the NZE 141

http://www.cusco.co.jp/en/catalog/pd...logue_lsd.html
Listed for the Corolla Axio GT.

Price, around 900USD. Got someone bringing it for me from Japan.

When i was looking for an LSD i didnt have too many options. There was only Cusco and TRD. I was mostly looking for TRD as its a dealer option when buying the car in Japan. And i drove a friends car with the TRD LSD [mechanical type],nice!
A friend has a Kaaz in a C52 gearbox,cant fault it either.

Ok going to do a little more research but may take the gamble with the Quaife.

I do know from a honda perspective, that guys who go for the Quaife, upgrade the hardware bolts before installing. People say they use cheap bolts and end up either bolt snapping on them or bolts get stretched and sounds horrible. If bolts are upgraded to a grade 8, claimed to have no issues. Again, this is on the honda's. Can not say for others, but would't hurt to look into before installing
