the newer designed overhanging one has been reported by some users to fade pretty quickly. Just an fyi if your car sees a lot of sun.

I do not get the point of the OEM so-called "bumper protector". Umm, what is it protecting, exactly? The mid section of the TOP of the bumper?? When does that part of the bumper get damaged, and how?? It seems kind of dumb to me. Spending like $50 for a small strip of rubber?? Why?

To protect the bumper from scratches. Sometimes sliding things in and out of the hatch can scratch the bumper if you're not careful.

Bumper protector was one of the first things I added to mine. Ordered it off ebay from a Toyota dealer in Florida. It has already saved me dozens of times. Doggie toenails, crates in and out, groceries, bags of dog food, etc.

The one that overlaps would be better, but I have heard it fades as well. Also, I ordered the hexomat rubber mats for the floor and cargo area and the design on them is the same type of stop sign pattern so it looks like it all goes together.

Got mine in May for $40.00 off ebay from these people. Guess they went up a little, $42.00 now. Actual Toyota dealer in Florida so genuine Toyota parts. Got the bumper protector, mudguards, rear carpeted cargo mat, and exhaust tip for $172.24 including shipping. I am looking at the invoice. Very happy with all those purchases.

I got mine for $42 CAD. I was taken back by how cheaply the dealer sold it to me. I'm used to seeing triple-inflated prices there.

Worth it, in my opinion. I liked the look without it better, but I got used to it quickly, and it really is better than the alternative (soft bumper cover + soft paint = ruined)

The profit-margin on this thing must be incredible. I cannot imagine it costs more than a dollar to make.

Toyota is very smart!

Yeah, no kidding! I am looking for one of these, but wasn't that impressed with the one the dealer had. What are the aftermarket options?

Cheers! M2
