cost effective sensible mods help needed

Hi all,

I was wondering if the more learned member of the forum would give me some feedback on my planning

I drive 40 thousand a mile a year so comfortable ride is important to me so is gas mileage.
I'm planning to go withthe following

Rims= miata 14 inch 195/60/14 instead of the 185/60/14. Rims were free

BTW why do people say that the honda 1996-2000 rimsand the first generation miata fit our cars. I assume its not a direct bolt on, because I ve had to modify miata rims to fit honda in the past.

I plan to go with the best touring tires that money can buy. I've learned through the years that bang for the buck and the best performance upgrade are tires. I elected touring tires because I'm hoping to get the best of both worlds spirited driving when needed and a comfortable drive othewise. Any recommendation?

Shocks? Stock shocks seems to provide a pretty choppy ride, you can feel every single bump in the road.
KYB, Monroe sensa track, KONI. Im lookng at 340 for a set of four for kyb and monroe. Lifetime warranty. I figure i can change them once a year. Koni are the same. What the best if you looking for a balance of comfort and performance.

sway bars 19 in the back gies you a neutral ride? 23 gives you oversteer?

thanks ahead of time

duct tape, some paper clips, maybe a bit of twine, you should be able to turbocharge your engine ;)

Miata rims will fit the Yaris without modification, we both have 54.1mm hub bore. You had to modify the Mazda rims to fit the Honda, as Honda's have a larger (56.1mm) hub bore. Therefore you had to have the hub of the wheels machined out 2mm to be able to fit.

Touring tires: Hankook Optimo H727's are the best touring tire for our car in my opinion. Great handling, comfy ride, 100,000 mile treadwear, quiet, and they're priced reasonably.

Before you buy tires, let me know if I can quote a set for you. I am almost always the lowest price and strive to have great customer service!

Agree ^^ oem+ would be a great way to set the Yaris off on a budget.

I can vouch that '94 Mazda Protege 14" steelies will clear the calipers and are a 1:1 match for bore and lugs. I would also recommend going as skinny as possible on the tires to reduce rolling resistance and rotational mass. I ran a set of 175/70R14's over the winter and they were plenty smooth when driving and responsive when accelerating. Granted, you won't be able to do much in a corner with those sidewalls, but you can't have the best of both worlds.
