Throwout Bearing Failure
I just took my 11 yaris hatch in to have the throwout bearing replaced, thankfully under warranty. It's current mileage is only 21,000. So it has me alittle concerned about this being a continual thing. By the way this is not my first vehicle with a manual trans. Been driving a stick for years, and this is my first brand new car. I've replaced clutches before but never just for the throwout bearing.
I was wondering how many of you guy with manual trans Yaris, have had to replace the T.O. bearing? and at what mileage interval? My wife's 07 sedan with auto trans has 50,000 miles, and has needed nothing other then it's normal 5,000 mile servicing and tires. Thinking I should have bought and automatic trans now. |

usually a throw out baring wares out quickly if you leave your foot rested on the clutch peddle, this causes the fork to come into contact with throw out bearing and the pressure and friction will prematurely wear them out. I would assume that your previous automobiles had clutches that in gauged at a later point than the Toyota clutch peddle. just ensure that you don't rest your foot on the puddle while driving and you should be fine. (the things I learn in auto class :D) Ironically that was a point of discussion today so conveniently I happened to have recently obtained this information to pass on to you. :D

Ya, that's the thing. I never rest my foot on the clutch. So this should not have happened.

hopefully it is just a freak thing. Never needed anything but normal maintenance on my car.

I think it's just a fluke "lemon" bearing. It happens even in the best of brands.

That's good. That's what I was hoping to hear. Probably just a bad one in the bunch.

yea sounds like it, lucky it is still under warranty so you shouldn't have any problems after that unless you get a double lemon part.
