Aux Port - Canadian 2006 Yaris

I have read alot about this topic, but it is still unclear whether you can add an aux port to a 2006 Canadian Yaris that has the stock cd player in it (no aux or line in button).

If it can be done, how? and how does the port get activitated with no button to select. I want to run my Tom Tom through the radio without using the FM modulator function

Many thanks

What's the part number on the label on top of your radio?

The pic unfortunately doesn't help. The part number will let me verify compatibility with the aux jack. Does the radio actually play cassette tapes? If not, then the CD-Tape button is probably the button that gets used to switch the input.

I hope this helps

In that case, I'd bet that the CD-Tape button is your Aux selector.

The part number should be ten digits. There are three radios for 06 LB's:
86120-52060
86120-52530
86120-52490

The first was made by Matsushita and is not AUX jack compatible. The other two were made by Fujitsu and are AUX capable.

The book that comes with the radio shows the Toyota part # as 08600-00980

Hmmm. I don't see that part number in the US/Canada, Europe, or Japan EPCs. That may be the manufacturer's part number.

I double checked the owners manual lists the radio as toyota part # 08600-00980 as well.

I guess I may need to change the unit, but I like the look of the stock one.

Thanks

I would pull it out and take a look at the label on top to see if it has a different number, and while you have it out snap a pic of the back, so I can see the connectors back there. It only takes about two minutes to pull it out and the only tools needed are finger tips and a phillips screw driver.

spry... great thread.. I was wondering the same thing also about my 08 radio/cd player...

CTScott.. The number on my face plate is 31809, and I think it is part# 08600-00997

Can you see if I can add the aux connector also?

thank Scott!

Like with Spry's that is not an actual Toyota part number. The picture below is one I took when I swapped out my 09 HU. You can see the Toyota PN on top.

The large white connector (D74) on the right in the picture is the Aux jack connector by the way.

OK. That is definitely the Toyota part number. I don't understand why I don't see it in any of the EPCs (US/Canada, Europe, or Japan).

Is that connector on the right in the picture, one row of seven pins?

I have no idea on this one. I have a Toyota publication that has the pinouts for most of the connectors used on various vintages of radios, but I haven't seen a 7 pin one.

Thanks anyway, I think I may go after a hard wired FM modulator to keep the look stock
