At both of my trackdays I never saw the oil temp above 109 C. I run the oil level about a half qt. low (about halfway or a little lower on the dipstick) and never saw any abnormal oil press. fluctuations (i.e. pressure changes not consistant with rpm).

With a higher output engine (boosted) I could see the need for an oil cooler or a finned pan, but for an N/A application of the 1NZ I don't think it's really needed.

I think a pan rail spacer would be cool to run if we were able to drop the pickup the same amount, and then run about the same amount of oil (or maybe a half qt. more). It would reduce windage, and maybe allow the oil to "calm down" a bit more before getting sent back through the engine. With the way the sump of the engine is set up, I feel pretty confident that the 1NZ with stock oil capacity can handle any kind of lateral G you can throw at it (I had absolutely no problems at the Streets of Willow).

Cali....that water pump is the nuts! I'd be really interested in doing the same thing on mine.....and removing the A/C is getting more and more tempting every time you mention it! Great work, and I can't wait to see this thing on the street!

Mike....I'm running an ARK Design MFD with the oil press. and temp. sensors mounted to a glowshift sandwich plate. I have not had any leaks at all with this setup.

Garm, to be honest you should probably just do an Accusump setup to protect yourself from oil starvation.
Thanks, I will look into that!

Oil cooler will be added when we do our install.

You can also pressureize the oiling system before you start the car.

Good to know. 109C is about 230F which is a little warm, but still ok. Be aware, as you get faster, you will have more issues with heat.
If you get R compounds you could start to have oil starvation issues on sustained high G corners. Many cars have this problem on sticky tires. On street tires you may never have an issue.

I definately would not run the oil lower than full at the track. The potential problems of running less oil and having starvation issues far outweigh the possible slight power losses to windage when running full or slightly overfilled.

Water temp, oil temp and oil pressure is what you will want. Boost is not a big deal with a supercharger, but if you have the coin and space, go ahead.

Good choice on the electric water pump and the AEM EMS (Two steps are a thing of beauty). If you haven't already picked up a pump yet then I would suggest and EMP unit, they're very well built. I was helping a friend out on his BMW 330ci build and I couldn't get over the quality of it. Here's a picture:

LtNoogie, I'm running oil temp. and press. with the ARK design MFD, and water temp, ignition, and inlet air temp with the scangauge. I also have a tach mounted on the A pillar.

Thanks. Any pictures of the gauge layout would be appreciated. You could even start a new thread for gauge layout.
