Using Cruise control - Toyota Yaris Forums

This is the first car I've ever had with cruise control so maybe I'm doing something wrong. It says when you reach the desired speed press the switch and Cruise will appear on the dash. OK, I reach 55 and press the switch and Cruise appears. I take my foot off the gas and the car starts to slow down. I push the cruise control lever up as suggested to increase the speed but it still continues to slow. What gives, should I take it to Toyota service?

push the button to turn it on then you got to push it down to set speed

You have 3 buttons. To turn on the control you push the one on the far left and youll see a green light come on. After that when you reach the speed that you want press the top one. If you press the brake the cruise control will deactivate, to activate it again press the bottom button. Also when the control is active you can press the top button to reduce speed or the bottom one to increase speed

Aha, I never pushed the lever down to set the speed. Thanks Gonzo I thought I was missing something.

Used the cruise control today and after pushing the button to turn it on and then setting the speed by pushing the lever down it worked like a charm. Now I'm ready for some long haulin'.

Dont push the lever or you will rip the cruise control out just press the buttons

I have a sedan also. To engage the cruise control you first push the button in and when you reach your desired speed you then push the lever down. Once the control has taken over then you can use the lever to adjust the speed. Up to increase the speed and down to decrease it. See pages 122 to 124 of your owners manual.

Are you sure you have a cruise control?

Do you see the On/Off button, Then on top you have the Set/Coast and at the bottom the Resume/Accelerate? As you can see the cruise control is at a fix position, only 3 buttons to get the job done

The other lever on top is for the lights. Do as I explained on a previous post and you'll be good to go. Cruise control is aftermarket, but this is the one that you could get thru the dealer (Rostra)

my yaris doesn't have cruise but that's the way my taco's are

You have to push the button to get cruise control on and then push the lever down to engage it. After the first time pushing it down,pushing it again slows your speed. If you want to cancel cruise pull the lever towards you or push the cruise control button. It took me some time to figure it out.

Yes I know I have cruise control. I use it a few times a week.
As you said, you have an aftermarket. Most people won't have your cruise control. Plus, the CC is on the right side for the sedan.
I couldn't find a close up pic of it but check out the top left corner V
