READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL!!
There seems to have been a rash of threads lately with questions that could have been easily answered by reading the owners manual! I am not going to point any particular issue out, but I am sure most of you know who I am referring to.
So, I just want to throw this reminder out there--especially for those who are newer drivers or who don't have a lot of experience with cars--READ YOUR OWNERS MANUAL! There is a lot of good info in there on how to drive the car and where things are located. The Yaris is not an overly complex car, but it does have some unique nuances about it that are explained in the owners manual. It is not a novel, and I am sure everyone can learn a thing or two by reading through it a few times (you never catch everything during the first read). And if you can't find your answer there, then by all means ask here; but much like searching the forum, reading your owners manual should be something you do before ask a question. Cheers! M2 |

YarisWorld crib notes: The jack is under drivers seat No, it's not annoying the speedometer is in the middle See the stickies in the fuel economy thread if you don't know what DFCO is, no more reposts! Your mom That's what she said

If we throw out everything that can be answered in the owners manual,
then throw out everything that can be answered in a search' then throw out everything thats been posted before Whats the point of the forum? |

I'm not sure why we want to lessen the amount of forum activity by eliminating questions that people have. I have no problem answering questions I find to be easy questions. Just don't comment on the thread if you don't like it and we will all be fine.

How many threads can you possibly make about where the jack is? There has to be a cap somewhere. I'm suprised so many people are willing to answer those questions around here - it's nice. But other forums eat newbs alive, and I think rightly so. It keeps the forum clear of junk, and keeps pertinent, fresh, interesting material around.
This forum isn't an interactive owners manual... It's for posting up your projects, mods, tips, etc. about the Yaris.

actually, what might be a good idea is to have a proper Yaris FAQ that covers a lot of these, well, frequently asked questions? Including questions which are not covered in the manual, such as, which is better, the sedan or lb?
![]() I sadly do nto have the time to handle that myself, anybody wanna volunteer to lend a hand?

I'd be willing to tackle this and make a downloadable word .doc or something, or make a good post and sticky it. Put up or shut up I guess. =]

Let's start brainstorming right now. I think we could do this in a funny manner - things like, "Finding your jack and you."
The jack has to be number one. We could do one on how to shift properly with the automatic. Talk about warming the car up properly, and why it won't shift properly until warmed up. The blinking gas light when approaching empty, and the importance of not running empty. A short word on fuel economy, DFCO, tire pressures, etc. How to properly use the rear center seatbelt. How to fold down the seats if you have 60/40, and flipping over the flap. The rear windshield wiper mod should be thrown in there, too. What else gets brought up a lot? I only focus on LB stuff because, well, that's what I own. Any sedan owners out there wanna help?

The same people who don't / won't RTFM will also miss the FAQ's and haven't heard of a search engine so get used to answering the same questions over & over ...

Well you see, we need a document to point people to so we can do funny things like that, lol.

Really? Someone mentioned the proper automatic shifting. I didn't know there was a proper way to do it. Hit the gas and go?

i've already seen 3 people on the yarisworld forums who had been driving in 3, instead of D. It happens. I am in the rental car service industry, and many people complained about the same issue as well without knowing that they've been driving in 3 all weekend long. :D
