Will Nokya/Luminic/Silverstar Headlight bulbs burn my wires? - Toyota Yaris Forums

Hey all,
Sorry if this question is common sense but I just wanted to ask to be completely sure before I buy a new set of bulbs. I was looking to change out my OEM headlight bulbs for something new.

I've read that some people have issues with the wires burning, can this potentially be a problem later down the line for me if I use Nokya/Luminic/Silverstar bulbs? I noticed that the Nokya's use much more wattage than the other two, does this affect/risk anything?
Does anyone have any experience with these bulbs? Recommendations?

I have been running Silverstar Ultras for over 2 years now and my headlight connectors are not even discolored.

You do need to be careful with higher wattage bulbs, as they will generate more heat. The headlights are fused at 10A per side, which theoretically means that they can handle between 120 and 140 Watts per side as far current flow goes. As far as heat dissipation goes though, they can't handle anywhere near that much. I don't know what the actual limit is before the connector, wire insulation or plastic housing begins to fail.

SILVERSTAR or the ULTRAs no . The downfall is they only last up to a year and a 1/2 . Less if the car has daytime running lights . Still well worth the money thanks to whiter light that helps distinguish critters of the night . Especiallly deer . Have them in the '08 sedan . SYLVANIA sometimes has rebates of $5 for the Silverstar and $10 for the Ultra at their website .

Just check the wattage/volts as long as they are what the stock bulbs are, you'll be fine.

Does anyone know what the V and W are for the stock bulbs? I'm not too sure where to find out.

W is the power consumption (in Watts) at a particular voltage (V). The OEM bulbs are 55W for low and 60W for high beam, like the silverstars. For the silverstar, the rating is probably 12.8V, not 128V. The two numbers for the wattage are high and low beam power draw.

The dielectric grease is used on the contacts to keep moisture off to keep them from corroding.

Ah I see, I'll probably stay away from the Nokya bulbs then because of the wattage.

Anyone have any experience with the Luminics bulbs? I can't decide whether or not I should pick up a pair of Luminics or Silverstar ultras.
For anyone that has Silverstar ultras, is the light completely white or does it have a bit of a bluish tint to it? I'm looking for a bulb with a slight hint of blue but not so much as it being illegal in Hawaii and me being pull over for them. I've been searching online and I can't find any information about the laws regarding headlights :\
