Cold Air Intake...

I thinking of getting one very soon but i want to know if they are worth it like what are the pros and cons of a Cold Air intake....
Do they waste more gas or give more gas..
Better Horsepower...
A Deeper sounds...
Etc...

Let me know if i should invest in one
i was thinking of this one...
And also do you think i should get an Exhaust first or get the cold air intake first...
Thank You....

Cold air intake: long tube that goes into wheel well to gather colder, more dense air. Provides more power (a few hp), a nice air gulping sound and a good look in the engine bay. Mileage should improve a little too.

Short ram intake: short tube, filter remains in the engine bay. Slightly less performance value but still an improvement. ** Easier to maintain the filter.

Hybrid: Short ram + airbox (AFE for example). Best of both worlds, helping the short ram to take cooler air and make maintenance easier.

All in stock.

That help?

You are not going to get THAT much power out of one. Yes it will help some and the responsiveness will improve. The gas mileage will go up some but with the more aggressive driving you will be doing then it is going to even out. As far as sound is concerned, that will be the most noticeable improvement. I still think it is worth the less than 200 bucks you can pick them up for.

I like CAIs. Even if the only differance is the sound, it's worth it in my opinion. It makes me feel a little more like there's actually an engine on the other side of the firewall, instead of a vacuum cleaner. (that's totally subjective and I am fully aware it's more perception than anything, but I'm OK with that.)

I'm thinking about purchasing one too. I have no experience with installing air intakes and would probably have to take it in to get it installed..

Which intake should I get for my 2008 yaris coup? And are there any good DIY's for installing an intake other then just a basic google search?

I hate how they always get me on labor costs... Guess I better start learning these things myself!

EDIT: I just got a $240.63 intake from http://afepower.com/shop/details_new...ns_array=Array on amazon for $166.77!!!

Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details

Micro Image sells the same one for $170 with free shipping, plus great customer service. installing is easy, ne need to take to a shop, as long as you have basic tools...

heres my afe (short ram) it doesnt really give much if any hp (although i have noticed at higher speeds it seems to perform better than from a stand still) but you can tell from the sound that its there. ive never heard a cai on the yaris so i dont know the difference and like cali said easier to maintain and cleaner look imo, but not like its out in the open for all to see only when hood open

i like it, also a relatively easy install if u have some time or a friend to help who does car work haha

The only drawback that I see with a CAI is the risk of having hydro lock on VERY rainy days. If you want to be worry free, get a short ram intake instead as it does not reach that far down in the engine bay.

^ They must be referring to the older pricing on the AFE intake.

The Amazon link also shows higher pricing.
