Then don't get them? When people make fun of your car just laugh your way past the gas station.

"Herbie" stripes on white LB would look kick ass! The numbers might work on the sides, but the hood is too small. Maybe some photoshop expert can make it happen.
BTW - Most rally cars are small cars with small engines. MG, Ford Focus, Lancia, WRX, etc... The original stripes were used to help spectators recognize their favorite drivers car. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go-faster_stripes

While we are on the subject, I photochopped the idea I had for my stripes a while back. Here is the back... I am still working out how I will bring them to the front. I would get these painted, of course. I've never been a fan of vinyl. Looks good with smoked tails.

I probably won't have them done until next year. My next big mod is Chris's HID kit, which I will probably be picking up sometime in early November. Can't fucking WAIT for those.

i like the stripes, most look great, heres what i did to the wifes...
but if it were mine i would have of centered to the right one the same size than another about half the thickness spaced a couple of inchs away, and not pink probably a lighter gray.
