Fill up with Super before starting your boost project
Today, I tried to make a video of the supercharged Yaris but I had half a tank of regular 87 Octane gas in the tank. We filled it the rest of the way with 91 Octane but when I floored the accelerator, I heard knocking (pinging) (detonation) so I had to back off the pedal.
It's also good to have a wideband A/F gauge installed before you boost so that you can tell if you are running lean or rich. I read somewhere that running too lean can lead to knocking. I also have to switch to a high heat range spark plug like the Blitz manual suggests. Perhaps someone can explain how that may prevent knocking. I'm going to drive without boost until I get a full tank of 91 Octane in the car.

Just go to Desoto and Vanowen and top it off with 100 which they have at the pump. Say hi to Ray.
or come by and I'll put in some 104 for you.

Thanks, but I have a full tank now. I used to see 100 Octane there when they were a Texaco. I did not know that they still sold it. Thanks for the tip.
I could also go to Cycle World and buy a 5 gallon can of racing fuel too. I expect 91 to do the trick though... I hope. What time are you leaving your shop tomorrow afternoon? I want to pick up either the AEM or the aFe intakes. I need to see how the postion of my throttle body will affect the aFe. I also want to order the gauges.
