cheap sound deadening
had anyone here ever used peel n seal or any other lowes type sound deadening as a cheap alternative. I was replacing the rear speakers in my lb to find NO sound deadening at all all you can see it the sheet metal.

Raamat.com is a good quality site to get deadening.

it's a good starting point. This is another option, but all depends on what you want! http://www.soundproofing.org/ Derick

If I where you,
I would start putting a complete layer of MAT from raamaudio.com in the TRUNK Then will treat the same way the front doors This would help more acoustics of your woofers/speakers than blocking road noise, but it's a good start D.

"And for the floor it's MAT + MLV ?"
MLV it's a sound barrier and it's not cheap. (works great on the floors, wheel wells, Pillars and doors). Works in junction with CLD Tiles (or a full layer of MAT) + CCFoam. You can add a layer of CCFoam on top of the Mat then a layer of MLV on top of the CCFoam this system would help reduce road noise! D. |

Sound quality comes from your equipment
Road noise doesn't let you hear your music at low levels Mat helps to prevent vibrations, produced by woofers, and road noise. |

Have you ever heard a car with a loud system and the trunk + license plate vibrate like crazy! that is why you use MAT. But if you use only MAT to prevent vibrations and block the road noise you would need at least 3 or 4 layers of MAT. That is when using MLV comes appropriate.

Thats what I mean with vibrations we don't want like the license plat...:)
So I'll put One layer of MAT in the trunk and in the front door :) on roll is enough ?

I didn't use a lot of MAT, most of my deadening was CLD Tiles + CCF + MLV and then I used about 45 sqfeet of MAT, to feel the gaps (wheel wells & trunk) and front doors. |
