warranty issues & remote start

are there any warranty issues related to putting in a remote starter yourself?

if i put in a remote start, is it possible that dealers will say something like: "you messed with the engine by putting in a remote starter so you voided the warranty" or something along these lines?

thanks in advance.

I believe they must prove that the alarm was directly responsible for the problem.

According to most warrantees, they can only claim non-coverage on a directly influenced part, in this case, they can claim non-coverage on the wiring because you installed the remote start, I do beleive however that burden of proof falls on the consumer, to prove their install was not responsible for the failed part.

Well, i would say if your wiring gets fucked up, then they may void that claim due to your own wiring , but you should be ok

There's no "best" remote start kit for the Yaris, but if you're really paranoid about warranty issues, etc. get the kit installed by your Toyota dealer. They'd probably charge an arm and a leg for install though.

Also, don't spend hundreds on one of those kits. One of Directed's lower cost kits will work just fine.

Agreed DEI product is the way to go for RS. If you get the rs installed by an authorized dealer it will not void your factory warranties. If you have never installed a remote start before do yourself a favor and DONT. Leave it to the professionals.

they cannot void any warranty unles they can prove the item you installed caused the problem. i believe there is a act called the magnus moss act.
