Need help finding a garage remote - Toyota Yaris Forums

Well, the only thing I can think of right now to make my life a little easier, would be to somehow get the yaris to open my garage door.

My garage is very old, from some sears garage openner. It only uses a huge remote. I have been told that the remotes in the cars "learn" signals and can repeat them. Is this true for ALL signals? Or are some brands or models excluded?

I really want to be able to open the garage door with the push of a button in the car. I do not want it to also be a rear-view mirror. I want it to be a switch/push-switch which I can place somewhere in the car, like in the empty slots on the left side of the steering wheel, or the two free slots where the hand brake is located.

If anyone can point me into the right direction on how I can custome make this, or get some kind of kits, I would really appreciate this. My dad also wants this done to his car too, mostly for this job garage door.

Anyway my car first, so please anyone who can help and let me know what I must do, even if it means installing a whole new remote system to the garage I will do it. I just want to be able to use a small push switch to open/close the garage instead of having this 3x2x1(inch) size remote

my friend did this to his E36 318. he took his remote, opened the case, found the items on the circuit board that are activated when the button is pressed, got a momentary switch, wired it to the circuit board, and there you go. where you place it in your car is all you.

There are several companies that make what are known as "flash-to-open" remotes. Essentially, these remotes hook up to your high-beam switch; all you have to do is flash your brights twice to activate the garage door opener. Pretty cool.

The link I found appears to include a rolling-code receiver, so you should NOT have to buy/install a new opener for the garage. Should save you some money. Let us know if you get one of these, and let us know how it works!

Hmmm, are there any other ways of doing this, that maybe doesn't use the "high-beam"? Thanks..

This method coupled with a relay and a free validity output on your aftermarket alarm will let you open the garage from your key fob.

Wow, im lost. Sounds like the idea I had aswell, but this remote is huge. Which is the reason why I wanted to maybe install a new garage remote(if that is even possible). Anyway yes, that sounds good, what do I need to buy for this to work? If not from my keychain, atleast from a switch inside the car.

Check on the back of your garage door opener, if your opener is at least from the 1990 there should be a button on the back of it. You go to sears and get a remote on the same frequency as the old one, to set up the new remote go to that button and press it and then press the remote, I cant remember for how long but it should be for just a couple of seconds and WALLA

The whole thing is older then that. And only comes with one LARGE "sears" remote. So now, when I look at the back of the motor, it has a wire(antenna) sticking out of it. Well, does this mean that I can upgrade it, or will I have to buy an entirely new motor and remote system?

Please let me know my options because I have no idea what to do when it comes to garage doors/openners.
