Fog lights as DRL ?

Hello all!

Planning to replace my DRL from the headligts to the fog lights.
I have a European model Yaris 2003 (Facelift) NLP10 1.4 D-4D, JTD VIN.

Have someone done this before? A the moment i did not check out the wiring diagram yet!

Another story:
At the same time when the DRL is relocatet, i think i also will mount a aftermarket timer relay, for the use of "follow me home" exterior light, when a unlock with remote, and maybe also when i lock or stop the car.

Best regards!

The DRL is the headlight bulb itself, so to feed the fog lights instead you would have to cut the feed wire from the DRL relay (under the dash) and run it to the fogs instead.

Don't forget the DRL feed is pulsed at 12v. When I fed it directly to the fog light switch, if flickered the fog relay. A small capacitor fixed the issue.

That output shouldn't go to the relay - It should go directly to the bulb.

You both confirmed my thoughs. Have to check up at the pulse signal, in Denmark where i live the Yaris have full power/light in tje headlights whit standard DRL. Mayby its because the headlights are using H4 bulbs, whit combi low/high beam...?

I wanted it to be switched. So I connected the feed to the Orange wire of the DRL module.

Fog lights as DRL ?

Very small. 100uf I think. It's been a while.
But that's one more component that could fail. CTScott's way is the proper way to do it.

My fog light indicator is always on on my dash

For the MK1 European Yaris it looks like the DRL module is far more integrated than for the US/Canada market ones. I recommend instead wiring the fogs via an ignition switched relay to make them act as DRLs.
