How does this affect your powertrain warranty if Toyota sells one themselves?

i know that we have the right to modify our cars without the dealers voiding our warranty if they cannot pin-point the "mod" at fault, but i don't want to have to go through/deal with that. i know Toyota sells a CAI (TRD) themselves, but unless you buy the TRD part and have them install it, they can/will try to void that part of the warranty, or even the entire warranty.

i made an "anonymous" call to a Toyota dealership and asked "if my friend were to lower his Yaris, would that void his warranty?" their reply was "yes, it will void their suspension aspect of their warranty" (or something to that extent).

i just don't want to deal with those dealer BS.

i was also chatting with a couple sheriffs at my work about their Crown Vics, and they told me that their electrical aspect (not sure where that actually falls into) is voided by Ford since they "mod" their cop cars with lights and sirens. but apparently their "powertrain warranty is kept since they do no modifications to the engine or exhaust."

i was told that adding an intake would not effect the powertrain warranty by the warranty advisor at the toyota dealership so no worries. he said the only thing it will void out is exhaust

Has anyone ever seen a full warranty in writing? Just wondering if the dealer even has one to show you, or if you are just depending on their "knowledge" of it...

Yea, read the paperwork. u will only know the truth if you read it yourself.

most of those dealers or w/e employees talk right out of their ass. I hate that shit...bunch of bag hoes that dont know nothing.
Get that intake.

It will always work to their favour in a case of warranty. I maybe wrong but how much damage can it do since they sell something so similar(trd).

what you will probably have to do, if you have a problem is put the stock item back on when you take the car in for repair because from my experience any part you modify voids warranty on that component, like springs void the entire suspension warranty but not the rest of the car, so put the stock box back in and play dumb if you need maint. or service at the dealer

and sure the TRD intake installed BY the DEALER will be covered under warranty just like TRD suspension installed by the DEALER

yeah, i can always do that when i get my intake (if i get one before my warranty is up), but that's such a hassle. heh. but yeah, i'll probably end up getting one when i get the money.
