Rear Drum to Disc Brake Conversion

Hey guys, my name is Mark, and I am trying to gauge to see how much interest there might be in a new Rear Drum to Disc Brake Conversion kit.

There is a new company that is offering a completely new kit that switches your rear drums to rear discs. The parking brake still utilizes the drum system though. I believe that this kit is all inclusive, meaning, that everything that is needed to do the conversion is all included in 1 package.

I was just trying to see if there was any interest in the Yaris world to begin with. If you guys have any questions, please post them here, and I'll definitely answer them to my best ability.

Thanks!

I considered the runstop ones at MI, but unless you have standard (based off an OEM part, preferably from fronts) pads and rotors that will fit them, I will reluctantly stick with my drums.

Yea, what Sheekeebut said, Micro Image sell them. To be honest, I am reluctant to upgrade to that style because I want to get rid of the drums altogether. I am still searching for JDM rear disc from overseas because they utilize the caliper for the hand brake instead of a drum hidden behind the back.

If you need somebody locally to get it done for free and then heap praise about your company in all the forums...

Intrested it has to look OEM and the rear disc doesn't look pretty being way larger than the front... Must accept 15"
You should look in to non drum setups scion XB uses tokico calibers with non drum ebrakes...
Also look in to selling half kits $800 dollar kits fail against a 100 find it yourself type youll have less stock and will sell more brackets even to people that don't even end up finishing the kit... I've seen this in the Suzuki Samurai forums people prefer spending more money getting the parts little by little than dropping less money on a single purchase.
But thats my opinion

This is true. I can hide explain several $100 purchases over 8 months rather than 1 large purchase for $800 to my wife.

Thanks for all the great feedback. I'll definitely take this back and let the company know what people are asking for.

Keep it coming!

the biggest thing that's different with the drum equipped yaris beam and the one equipped with rear disc is taht the mounting plate for the hub also has accommodations to mount a rear caliper. it gets rid of the drum completely. hubs are identical. fab a caliper adapter plate, disc backing plate, and get some calipers and rear discs from oem 2012+ se. if you wanna go lightweight you can fab taht too.
the ebrake cable can be made or use oem yaris SE cables. the stock diameter for rear discs is 260mm. It might look funny with the front 255mm yaris base models tho :P

the rear disc axle rotor looks so tiny. But im on 17in rims. I know a bigger rotor doesnt really do anything and its the bigger caliper and pads that matter... Ill wait till i need brake pad change. Enviri, do you have bigger rotors?

you can use 15" with the front rotors. i'm using them now for snow time. You use 2012+ Yaris SE rotors (43152-52130)

Great I got some light 15" wheels for the track and if I upgrade the brakes don't want to loose that... I got to rethink brakes I wasted a pair of pads in less than a year

Are you saying you can use a larger rotor without changing the stock caliber?
No mods?

I think that if they use XB2 calipers it would be more easy to source than a uncommonly Yaris SE....

yaris se calipers are actually physically smaller in size, and as far as i know, bespoke to the car, hence why i went to the corolla family and xd front calipers...more avail.
